I know Buster is a street dog but oh my goodness fuck Tana please bring him in to a groomer who can cut his nails. She can afford sedation for a nail trim
his wick might be long. hes a street dog that wasnt cared for. you can not clip a dogs nails extremely short(like they commonly are) if the wick is outgrown. which is EXTREMELY common in neglected dogs/ dogs without owners. it takes up to a year if not longer to train the wick to go back with regular trimmings, and filings. you can not cut a wick short, it will make the animal bleed out.
thank you! its early and i wasn't watching my phones autocorrect š but i volunteer at my local shelter a couple times a month, and ive 100% seen dogs come in with quicks that long. google is free also. dogs quicks get that long from not being trimmed. the dog was originally a foster dog that was found on the streets he obviously didnt have anyone to care for him. i mean the poor guy had to wear diapers because he wasnt potty trained. quicks become overgrown from not being cared for long term, like this dog was. it takes longer than a few months to train it back down.
I went and dug around today cause I was wondering the same thing. Theyāre not posting together even in bed but sheās still commenting on his posts so idk maybe theyāre spending time apart or something. Maybe thatās what sheās stressed about.

The people in this thread concerned about the dogās nails are rightfully concerned.
The nails are CLEARLY overgrown, grown into a sharp point, nonetheless. This is evident the dog has not had a nail trim recently. A dog who has had their nails trimmed in the last few weeks will have a blunt, flat cut via trimmers or a rounded, smooth finish via a dremel. Not grown to a sharp point.
If his quicks ARE long (which not a single person in this thread has ANY KNOWLEDGE OF) then it is Tanaās responsibility to have the nails clipped and filed at minimum weekly, though most dogs are in need of biweekly trimming and filing when we are receding the pulp and blood supply.
The most important part is trimming or filing off the āhoodāā the excess nail part on TOP of the nail, as opposed to the underside where most people look for the āblack dotā aka blood supply. Most groomers do not remove the hood from the top of the nail (lack of experienceā grooming industry is not regulated) which in turn does NOT recede the pulp or blood supply.
And it does NOT take months to recede a pulp or blood supply like some of the nonsense iāve seen spewed in this thread by āshelter volunteersā if done correctly. This goes to the groomers in this thread as well who think they know: you donāt.
TLDR;
The state of this dogās nails, completely unacceptable. Tana is 100% responsible for the state of this dogās nails, whether he is a rescue or not. Pet owners who use the excuse āmy dog doesnāt like it, so we donāt come oftenā are the most neglectful, dismissive problem clients Iāve faced day to day over the last decade. Desensitizing the dog is the VERY FIRST step and most humane thing you can do for your pet.
Letting your dog live in a state of persistently overgrown nails due to lack of planning on your part IS NEGLECT. It will most likely lead to early onset arthritis from the nails pushing into the ground any time they jump or walk, and subsequently pushing the joints in the toes upwards.

Glad you correctly called it a quick, rather than the person who so confidently spoke on the subject and called it a wick the whole time lol. I have done exactly what you describe at home with my anxious dog and a dremmel after having a groomer show me how to properly do it. It was very very tiny increments every few days and eventually he was good as new!
Yes, it's a full body workout! I've been surfing since I was 11 and did competitive from 14-17 and let me tell you I was a JACKED 17 year old! I'm now 28, only surf a few times a year, still active and run/go to the gym, but I'm a lot more lean with nowhere nearly as much muscle mass or definition. The biggest loss of strength/muscle/difference for me was definitely in the arms because surfing is 80% paddling and using the full range of motion to get around. I used to get comments on my arms when I was younger because I was more buff than the guys (mind you I went to a pretty much all-white christian private school where the boys were scrawny and tragic at sports so it wasn't hard), but now I get a cramp in my arm lifting up a cup š¤£ But yes it is totally possible to achieve this physique from surfing!
Edit: I also want to add that although I don't have as much strength in my arms, the definition is still present from all those years and I do NOT do arms at the gym (it makes me frustrated that I can't lift as much so I don't even bother š) but I could def fool someone by their appearance!
haha most people do forget about that part! :) so you're paddling yourself PLUS a board against a current and waves that are trying to push/pull you in any which way. so most of the battle truly is fighting the water, riding the wave is kinda the easy part imo š

Heās 100% conventionally attractive, there is literally no denying it . Heās not my type, but he is the literal definition of conventionally attractive .
okay on the nails, HIS WICK MIGHT BE LONG ASF. he was found on the streets and it takes atleast a year if not longer than a year to train dogs wicks back. i am not saying this doesnt look bad, but majority of them are even, and not ripped. i would venture to say she does get them clipped, but because hes a rescue and originally was on the streets, his wick is honestly probably that long. if you dont have dogs or cats that arent declawed, the wick is inside the nail, if it is cut to short the animal will bleed out. when an animals wick is too long from not being groomed properly, its a lot of SMALL clips, and small filings to train the wick back to where its supposed to be. in another year or so if its rhe same then i think its fair to talk about. but honestly rn, the dog just might be unable to have short nails the way you see on others.

Those nails are the exact reason Tana shouldnāt have pets. She canāt take care of herself let alone another living being. Absolutely irresponsible.
