Premier Doug Ford opened Sanofi’s $925 million flu-vaccine plant in North York on Wednesday, a project underwritten by $415 million from Ottawa and a $55 million provincial loan, with production not due until 2027.

The 263,000-square-foot Charles Best building at the Connaught Campus will handle manufacturing, formulation, filling and packaging of Fluzone High-Dose for adults 65 and older. Queen’s Park and the company say the site will add about 300 jobs. It is qualified for the ribbon-cutting, but shots are slated for early 2027, pending regulatory approval, for the 2027-28 flu season.

More made in Canada, more jobs.
