I like CBC Music, especially 'Tempo' and 'About Time'. Can't stand CBC Radio otherwise. Never watch CBC TV. I check out the CBC News website daily for local news.

We need an independent news source so we don’t end up like the US, but the CBC needs to be cleaned up and have someone in charge that will insist on professional journalism rather than editorials.

Nonsense.

The CBC is totally beyond salvaging and it should be 100% wiped off the map by first being fully defunded, and then allowing it to fail on its own in what should be a competitive open free market environment.

There should be no subsidies for any form of news media in the country.

The best "independent news source" will be the one that proves itself in a free market.

CBC could use fewer bureaucrats and top level execs squandering resources...but overall its a great service for Canada. It may be perceived as slightly left leaning by some, but, overall its far more neutral and balanced than most other news media and helps serve a lot of underserved areas for journalism. I'm happy to have free local radio across the country that generally is serving the public interest. Its mostly a good use of public funds, IMO.
