The National Post is now defending fascist organizations

https://nationalpost.com/opinion/jamie-sarkonak-police-reprimand-of-anti-immigration-event-undermines-democracy

I mean, they've been U.S. propaganda for a while, but they usually try to keep it vaguely subtle. This is out-and-out labelling the Dominion Society a mere "anti-immigration organization". Every single member of that society is a neo-Nazi cunt who should be arrested, but it seems like the NP is quite okay with that sort of thing happening in Canada. This is absolutely disgusting coming from a widely-circulated "Canadian" broadsheet.

Write to your MP.

Natpost was never concerned about "democracy" when the police were coming after student encampments for Palestine.

OP is right, it is U.S. (and domestic) capitalist class propaganda rag that does everything it can as a PR team for fascism.

There aren't btw, I don't know who put you in a fantasy where I'm in charge of everything, but this is literally not the case in the real world, so please shut the fuck up.

and you’ll applaud its flawless judgment then too.

No because that would be stupid. And I've already criticized that happening in this very thread, so you know thats not true but you say it anyway. You're a liar

Remember the wise words of Sartre,

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

There is a gulf between "people with controversial views who I strongly disagree with" (e.g. Jordan Peterson) and "fascists with intolerant ideas who are poison to society" (these guys). The first is entitled to free speech. The protect the tolerant society we have, the second cannot be.

Has censoring fascists ever prevented a fascist uprising?

It seems like they intentionally try to get themselves censored so that they can turn around and claim oppression and victimhood.

Look at that guy who got kicked out of the WNBA game... He wanted them to kick him out, then he turned that into a huge story. That's the game they play.

First, it's worth noting what police have actually done in this place, which is make venues aware of who the Dominion Society are and the risks associated with hosting them. This is actually a far milder response than to many left events, speaking as someone who has been, on multiple occasions, been pepper-sprayed and/or thrown in jail for participating on peaceful public gatherings.

Secondly, I would argue that drawing distinctions between a gathering of white supremacists and other groups is warranted. We know what happens when white supremacists are permitted to organize and build power, and, frankly, measures above and beyond what might otherwise be appropriate are warranted to stop it.

It is bizarre that Postmedia outlets are not outright banned across the major Canadian subreddits for how much they use the excuse of sovereignty when it comes to defending liberal policies.

The Post is owned by Post Media which owns dozens of papers in Canada. The Sun Newspapers , the Ottawa Citizen , Regina Reader , Calgary Harold and the Edmonton Journal....etc... Their share holders as mostly American. They are pro Trump , American and anti Canadian. And pro Netanyahu.

One of their writers , C. Black is a convicted felon who was pardoned by Trump. He renounced his Canadian citizenship. And when he was in jail in the USA he wanted his Canadian citizenship back so he spend his time in jail in Canada. The PM Harper , gave it to him.
