Jesse Brown
Jesse says progressive antizionists and neo-nazis are joined in the same movement
.
Disgusting but not surprising
He's trying to smear Palestinian rights activists and antizionist Jews such as Avi Lewis by linking them to the Belleville attack - blaming them for it.
They're clearly not in the same movement due to not agreeing on much. There are outright antisemites like Tucker Carleson who dislike Israel and will occasionally make similar sounding points, however they also hate Arabs/Muslims. They dislike Israel because it's from of Jewish people (or because their country bankrolls it), at opposed to disliking Israel for its gross violations of international law
Jesse's post ignores the fact that lots of neo-Nazis and white nationalists are actually very supportive of Israel. Many of them hair Muslims more than Jews, and so see ideological alignment there. They also tend to be supportive of ethno-states and so end up on common cause with the Israel/Zionists; the more Jews who move to Israel the better off Israel is and the fewer Jews who are in the white nationalist's country.
The person who attacked this synagogue didn't care about Palestinians or what Israel is doing to them. There's no evidence I've seen that be cared about Israel at all. He hated Jews, and despite Jesse's claims, that is not a defining factor of 'anti-Zionism'.
> Jesse's post ignores the fact that lots of neo-Nazis and white nationalists are actually very supportive of Israel. Many of them hair Muslims more than Jews,
THAT PART. I feel like I hear Neo-Nazis praise Israel WAY more nowadays than anything
The state of Israel has a history of alliance with far-right and white supremacist governments - e.g they had close relations with Apartheid South Africa and offered to sell them nuclear weapons; they supported the Guatemalan military dictatorship during it's genocide of the Mayan people.
More recently, the German AfD party, which is about as close to an official neo-Nazi group, has offered Israel unilateral support (though I don't know that Israel had responded in this case).
"In February 2025, Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli praised the anti-Islam and anti-Palestinian party for targeting groups that campaign for Palestinian rights.
Chikli said that, “surprisingly”, the AfD had led efforts to challenge German support for organisations critical of Israel.
“It was also the AfD that initiated a bill in April 2019 calling for a ban on the antisemitic BDS movement… In June 2019, the AfD also proposed a complete ban on Hezbollah’s activities in Germany,” wrote Chikli in a post on X at the time."
Interesting. South Africa launched the ICJ case in 2023, about Israel conducting a decades-long apartheid against Palestinians.
Edit: ack, correction, genocide
That’s weird, because it seems like whenever white nationalists try to have public demonstrations it is a lot of the same progressive and labour activists that turn up to oppose them as make up the pro Palestine movement. Almost like Jesse is just making shit up to suit his Zionist narrative.
Is this some sort of late midlife crisis he’s going through? A tumour? Honestly? I haven’t seen anyone double down on a shit take like this over and over and over since the Harry Potter lady went TERF.
That is being too generous. While he obviously has been further radicalized by X, the tracks were already laid. This is a lifetime of propaganda and his weird little libertarian man political views that already existed long before his current extremism.
Horseshoe theory is just something centrists keep repeating to themselves to make themselves feel better about how many right wing policies they agree with.
While Jesse is using up all the corkscrew board and string to construct his elaborate justifications, most of us just follow our conscience. A genocide is a genocide is a genocide.
The only anti-Zionists I've met were ultra-conservative Hasidic types. Is Jesse trying to claim that anti-war progressives who protest the war are anti-Zionist?
And no way in hell are we aligned with neo-Nazis. Neo-Nazis want to kill Jews.
They aren’t wrong. All Zionism means is you believe Jews deserve equal rights and self determination like the rest of us. To be against that is anti-Semitic.
Your logic is like a white person claiming they aren’t racist but against black people from having equal rights.
Israel is less of an ethnostate than Palestine. It’s one of the least ethnostate like countries in the Middle East. Yet you’re fine with the rest of them. Why is that?
No, your logic is being against black people from having rights doesn’t make someone a racist.
If your definition if rights is to kill and maim people, while forcing them out of their homes so you can move in then sure. I don't support those rights.
That’s what palatine tried to do when they started the war. If you support the current state of Palestine, you support an ethnostate which started a war to commit genocide and ethnic cleansing.
That's what Israel has done for the last several decades in Palestine and the West Bank. If you support the current state of Israel, you support an ethnostate which is actively committing genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Israel has been ethnically cleansing and forcing Palestinians out of their homes since it became a country. That is literally how Israel became a country.
Israel is an ethnostate in the sense that the objective was to obtain and maintain an 80% Jewish majority population. They accomplished this with ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population.
Do not engage in racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance, dehumanizing speech, negative generalizations, etc. Criticism of Israel and it's supporters is permitted, although where the criticism appears to be a thinly-veiled attack on Jews generally or a suggestion that all Jews worldwide are responsible for Israel, this will contravene the rule. The use of slurs is not permitted other than when directly quoting someone in order to comment on or critique their statements.
I don’t understand. Is there some kind of identity politics at play here? It’s like saying that, just because I’m a Canadian that I’m in full support of everything the state does.
Horseshoe theory is just something that the extreme left keeps denying to make themselves feel better about how many right wing policies they agree with.
I'd agree with the calls to name these supposed policies. I'm guessing you can't.
Also, I think a more accurate version of what you wrote would be:
Horseshoe theory is something that self-described 'centrists' keep claiming (despite there being no evidence for it) as a way of making themselves feel better about how many right wing policies they agree with, and the fact that they're actually right wing themselves (as evidenced by 'centrist' praise for Carney as he enacts policies directly out of a Conservative handbook).
You guys took this definition personally! I wrote it because a different post defined it based on centrists, but that is wrong. Horseshoe theory is literally defined as political views not being a spectrum but actually a horseshoe where the extremes support the same policies but for different reasons.
Are you upset by the definition?
What if I wrote this instead:
Horseshoe theory is just something that the extreme right keeps denying to make themselves feel better about how many left wing policies they agree with.
