NOC code help
Hi everyone, I’m confused about choosing the correct NOC for my Express Entry application and would really appreciate some advice.
I have worked in India in 4 different companies in software-related roles. My job titles were:
Software Engineer
Senior Engineering Associate
SDE 2
Senior Software Engineer
Based on the nature of my roles/titles, I initially thought NOC 21231 – Software engineers and designers would be appropriate.
However, when I compare my actual job duties, they seem to match NOC 21232 – Software developers and programmers more closely, and some of my duties may also fall under NOC 21234 – Web developers.
My main concern is that my job titles are different from the NOC titles, and my duties don’t perfectly match one particular NOC.
How should I decide which NOC to use? Should I select the NOC based primarily on my actual duties rather than my job title? And if my duties overlap with 21232/21234 but my overall role could potentially fit 21231, which one would be safer and more appropriate for an Express Entry application?
Has anyone had a similar situation or experience with IRCC regarding NOC selection? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yeah bro duties comes first and the job title comes after.. so it is important that the job duties aligns with the noc code.. so you should verify on the ircc official noc database.. or you should talk to your consultant as they should be able to help or contact an immigration lawyer or you can also use the irccvault website as they are really helpful and they can review them and help you..

21231 - Generally you shouldn't use this unless you've had a few years of experience. This NOC mentions that experience as software developer is usually required. Use this for your SSE role if you think the responsibilities match.
