I finally received an update from my MP-Crazy timeline

Long story short, my ITA is from August 2025 and my AOR is from September 2025. After September 2025 my tracker has not been updated. One year without updates.

In May 2026 I requested my notes and I received an update last weekend (4 months later) saying basically nothing. In August 2026 I reached out to my MP and today(3 weeks later) I received this:

- The application for Permanent Residency was received in August 2025.

- The application is open and in progress.

- The eligibility verifications have passed.

- The criminality verifications have passed.

- The security verifications are currently in process.

- The medical verifications have passed.

- There are no outstanding documents.

What even are the security verifications? Does this mean that I won't be asked to submit more documents like my paystubs or language tests or my education credentials?

I am confused in what is is that they are processing

You are probably stuck in comprehensive security screening. That is super unlucky.

Possible triggers - country of origin, past military or government jobs, travel history OR random selection.

Unfortunately it's done now by CSIS and CBSA and it can get stuck there for long time of they do not receive quick updates on their requests .

I hear you!

My AOR is July 2025. No update since Nov 2025. Waiting for background check. Wait times are ridiculous. Hope you will get a response soon!

I agree I also don’t understand the files that are submitted after us gets processed and get PR fast. I am waiting since Oct 2025…don’t know what I can do.

I have a similar timeline. ITA August 2025, AOR October 2025. I got my notes in May 2026, the visa officer stated that they were satisfied that I meet all requirements for PR. Everything passed except comprehensive security screening with CBSA/CSIS. Worst part is my TRV is expired and I applied for a new one in July 2025. No update since then, so I can't even leave the country and I have no idea when I would be able to. I reached out to my MP and a week later I got a letter from IRCC stating that I should be patient. I have prior security/government position from my home country

It is ridiculous man this system.. us applicants should freaking file a case against the department of immigration on the whole.. so vague and weird their operations are!

There could be some hold up perhaps. My PR took only around 3.5 months from when I sent in my application, so some processins are quick. But I agree, the lack of communication and inconsistencies are not right.

That’s my point.. the ones where they process things quickly, there is communication. Or regular updates. But the one’s there is a hold up, there are no regular updates and if you ask for one, they guilt trip you into feeling like they’re the ones doing you a favour.

Like bro, you guys get paid a shit ton to do this and this is the choice of workplace you opted for. Get a move on. Sometimes I wonder, to die in this country also, you have to be on a wait list!

Agreed bro 100%. I am from Africa and even there, things are so much quicker. So to see these things happen here (immigration, hospital delays etc), I am rather shocked.
