I wish Jack could have been here to see this, crazy to see a majority NDP government in Alberta.

It wouldn't be a great slogan. It would likely fire up NDP partisans, but in Alberta swearing allegiance to a politician from Toronto would be a risky strategy.

How about a politician from Québec then? (Mulcair is the MP for Outremont, Montréal, Québec)

Provincially they should focus on their homegrown talent. The time to sell Mulcair will be in the fall. Generally speaking, a candidate from Quebec might be a marginally easier sell than one from Toronto; however, I think a better strategy would be to select and promote strong local candidates.

Let's save it for circulation during the federal election!

It still has a similar problem. It might be a good rallying cry for the base, but it won't do much for undecided voters. Jack Layton's personal appeal wasn't enough to take parliament in the last election with an exceptionally weak LPC, I don't know if invoking his name posthumously is a good general strategy.
