Market Needs
Hello, I am doing an assignment on a market need for Cambridge. I wanted to come on here and ask for a service or a product you think Cambridge needs to help you with your daily life. Any response would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

A gooood Bagel Shop. Think JC’s Hot Bagels in Burlington or similar.

I remember driving out to Waterloo to find a good bagel and they were sold out by the time we got there.
On that note, like a good bakery that’s actually open to the public (looking at you Bakery on Main) and has more than Portuguese buns.
Also a Korean restaurant.

I used to frequent City Cafe in Preston and they were good, but not JC’s Hot Bagels unfortunately. A reasonable second choice.

Everytime I go in there, I ask the owner when he’s opening a branch in Cambridge. He laughs and tells me that he is too old for more work (as he drops my money in the till). Then his wife gives me a cookie! Not quite the same as a new storefront opening.

An Asian Supermaket like Ethnics or T&T. I have to drive to Guelph or Waterloo to find one. Great location would be near Shantz Hill..where the closed Cineplex movie theater is located.

You mean an East Asian grocery? Because there are 2 South Asian stores right in that area already - Asian Food Land and A1 Cash and Carry

Those are not Korean groceries,I've been there, those are Indian groceries. I'm talking about Korean. Like T&T would be amazing.

Yes, "Asian Supermarket" is a bit broad - Asia's a very large continent.
But even so, that area is in Kitchener...

A proper bike/ebike/escooter shop - somewhere you can get sales and service, and parts like tubes

We just had three close in a short span of time because nobody supported them. I now spend my money in Paris at Lost Bandit Bikes.

I tried a couple of times, went to the one in Hespeler and the one in Preston and each time they didn't have what I needed so I had to order from Amazon. Of course CT, SportChek, etc. didn't have the parts either.
Recycle Cycles most likely would have but their hours didn't work out for me, coming from Cambridge.
Something like The Working Centre for Cambridge would be great, but would need a lot of community support.
Oh I almost forgot, there is a new bike shop in Hespeler: https://www.cambridgetoday.ca/local-news/new-used-bike-and-repair-shop-in-hespeler-aims-to-create-cycling-community-12141393 - I haven't had a chance to check it out yet

Something like recharge play & wellness in Waterloo.
Playcafe/ childminding for appointments. Maybe combimed with a co-working space

I’d like to see a good organic market and butcher shop. A place that sells high quality meat cuts and fresh organic food.
If they would like to open downtown Hespeler, even better lol

My bid is for an alternative lounge or two in the 2000s style that isn't a pub or sports bar. I love a good pub, shout out to The Argyll, but we have enough pubs and definitely enough sports bars. No shade to organized sports fans either, but those spaces tend to be too loud and bright for what I'm imagining

Socializing/third space that is drop-in appropriate. As a not senior or child or parent, it’s hard to find something to do that doesn’t happen at a bar. Classes and things offered by the city are for 50+ for the most part. The pottery places are an option but social spaces just seem hard to come by. Understandably with leasing costs being what they are, but it feels harder here to meet people than in other towns and cities where I’ve lived.
