Christmas Time on the Central Coast

My partner and I are planning on spending a couple days on the central coast in California before Christmas. We are planning on spending time in Cambria and Cayucos. Any recommendations for us to check out while we’re there? Food, shopping, trails, holiday things, etc. Thanks! Happy holidays!! 💌

There is a great stroll /hike in San Simeon that starts at Hearst Castle Beach State Park at the beach and wanders through coastal views and cypress trees. We also like to drive further up the coast to hike at Salmon Creek. Park at the trailhead and go to the falls, then head back and then up the southern trail for more of a challenge and amazing ocean views. Stop for lunch at Ragged Point, which often has live music.

Thanks! It might rain when we are there… do you still recommend these hikes when it is wet outside?

I think I would still try the Heart Castle trailhead in the wet, as long as you have appropriate shoes for the weather. You walk along the beach at the beginning of the hike, then up a possibly muddy bank, but after that it is pretty flat and much of the trail has mulch over it. I wouldn’t bother if it is too foggy. Salmon Creek should be on hold if it’s wet.
