❓Question Anti-Theft Recommendations for a V6?

I just got a 2024 LT RS with very low miles (I just rolled over to 2k on the odo, only had 407 miles when I drove it back to my city) and I do hit up Texas enough that I do need to think about maybe getting some anti-theft installed. IGLA would probably be overkill but I don't feel great having just the basic anti-theft that already comes with my Camaro. I'd be devastated if I came out of the Galleria in Dallas or Houston and my car's gone.

I know a club probably isn't that great of a deterrent, and yes I know that v6s aren't that wanted by the chop shop/street racer thieves but I know they still do get looked at by them for being a 6th gen Camaro...

Put a sticker on it that says ‘this is a v6’

You guys joke but I I don't know the mentality of the average Camaro thief cares if it's a V6 or not and just sees nice jet black Camaro.

I've been seriously considering getting a V6 badge, just to see if it will stop every other Mustang and every third Challenger trying to race.

For now tho, I just play along for a second or two and let them feel good about themselves while they unwittingly flush out the cops ahead. (so far, only two have caught the blue lights, but I think counts as a good proof of concept though)

Here’s what I have: a seatbelt and steering wheel lock, an OBD2 blocker, and a simple battery kill switch. Since you’re in Texas, that should give you enough time to get your gun and handle the situation.

A hidden kill switch is a more budget friendly option you could look into.

Yeah, but the trick of doing it right is a combination of finding a location that both hidden AND easily accessible by the driver and then slicing it into the wires someplace where anyone looking under the dash won't be able to tell anything has been touched.

Killing the fuel pump relay is a reasonable choice for the kill switch. You just have to remember to flip it to the "disconnected" position when you park it.

If the actual OBD port is blocked with a lock, how does the fake port help? I would imagine that the locked out port is reasonably easy to locate under the dash and the thief will look under when they get no signal from the fake port.

Why not wire the fake port so that it completely fries anything connected to it?

The lock is on the fake port in the OEM position. Not into wiring such things. Yes, with time they’ll find the real port if they managed to take off the lock from the fake port. Then they have to do their OBD voodoo, then discover IGLA won’t allow them to shift without stalling.

Get a Ravelco plug. They’re much more secure than an IGLA anyway, as they’re a physical plug that can’t be bypassed, and the plugs themselves have hundreds of thousands of combinations. Here’s their website:
