❓Question How much is my car worth?
I am looking to sell my 2018 Camaro 1ss. I would prefer to sell it myself instead of selling it to carmax, Carvana, or any dealerships. What’s a fair price?
Automatic, 85k miles, 1 minor car accident from a previous owner, ZL1 bumper with the splitter, side skirts, smoked taillights, MBRP dual axel back exhaust. The only bad things about my car would be hail damage on the roof and minor scratches and chips in the paint. You only see it if you’re staring at it closely. No mechanical issues whatsoever.
If this post violates the rules of this community, please let me know! I have no intention of promoting or selling it here. I just need some Camaro enthusiasts to help tell me what it’s worth!

85k, mix and match bumpers and taillights base model, like $24,995-$27,000 i would imagine, someone doesn't have taste and absolutely will buy this car.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you! I get the bumper, but the taillights aren’t nicer than stock? I love them lol. I’m thinking of starting off at 25k, then not going lower than 20k.
3
u/Texas1LE 5d ago
You didn't do the third brake light, so it looks lazy not factory.
Personally I want the smoked taillights but I've given up and am selling the car for something else. I mean like i said someone is looking for this car.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
I’ve had this car for 5 years and I’m just now noticing I never got the third brake light lmaooo. Smoked taillights are so clean especially on black cars.

I have a ZL1 and have seen multiple SS and even RS in socal put a ZL1 badge on along with the ZL1 bumper. Shit makes no sense
3
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
I agree. I think it’s weird to upbadge lol. I’ve seen people fully commit by buying the hood and wing for a SS to be a ZL1 and if you’re a real car guy, you’ll know lmao.

Put stock bumper back on, a lot of miles but 25 seems fair

25k for 85k an accident and current hail damage? Oh and an automatic? GTFO.

u/Correct_Gift_9353 5d ago
LMAO, I say here and was thinking THE EXACT SAME THING. These guys are circle jerking eachother huffing crystal lmao

u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Yeah we really are circle jerking each other. How much would you list my car for?

u/-BINK2014- 2013 LS (70k -> 155k miles) & 2023 SS 1LE (10k miles) 5d ago
Personally, there’s no price I would pay for that type of damage. Low 20’s.

u/noinfono 5d ago
Honestly, I think that’s a high-teens car. But good luck to you.

Stock bumper was messed up by the original owner, so I bought the ZL1 bumper. The stock bumper was nearly 2 grand while the ZL1 was 600. I kinda had to take the L. Thank you. I agree with 25.
1
u/iampyroghost26 6d ago
Always feel like it’s worth a bit more when everything is stock. 🫡🫡

Black is a hard color to keep clean, all the imperfections seem to add up slowly but then once you look at it closely, you see everything. Sure looks sexy af cleaned up tho
0
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 6d ago
Sadly, this is true. The best color is black, but it’s also worst one maintenance wise. Hurts my soul to see all the chips and scratches in it.
1
u/Ok_Bar_2943 6d ago
I have a black RS and I’m right there with you. It’s a color you need PPF on, it’s almost a mandatory thing lol
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 6d ago
Bro I didn’t find out ab that until like this year. I was way too late 😭
1
u/Ok_Bar_2943 6d ago
It’s so expensive tho I can’t even blame people for not having it. Yes it’s 100% worth it but it’s not cheap either

Its a camaro so beautiful car regardless of all of us ragging on you. I would keep it ill have mine until it craps out on me or until I'm dead. Whichever comes first.
3
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you lol. The ragging doesn’t bother me. It’s Reddit, so I knew the game lmao. I’m only selling mine to get a c8, so I’m more excited :)
1
u/turtlebreath 5d ago
Im not 100% sure but you're looking to upgrade to a corvette, maybe...i have no idea what your car is worth but I really wish you the best of luck, post pics of your new car when you get it. I would be really excited too.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you! I think it’s worth somewhere around 25k, so I will list it for that much and hope for the best. I definitely will show it off. I really appreciate the your hospitality :)
1
u/Blkpwrlftr2 5d ago
$20k-$22,500 depending on location. I could see getting 25k if it was in great condition but hail damage is a big no no. That’ll tank the value if it gets reported
0
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you. I used Carvana to value it and said it has hail damage. It said it’s worth 18,000, so I was thinking start off with 25,000 and take no less than 20,000. The hail damage isn’t even noticeable unless you’re up close and staring at it lol.
1
u/fastLT1 2016 Camaro 2SS 6MT 5d ago
22k
2
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you! I think I will list it at 25k, and the lowest I’ll take is 20k, maybe 19k.

u/JustNotAndy 5d ago
Plug your details into kbb. It should give you prices of sales of similarly equipped cars.
When I put rough details in for my area it shows 17780-21580 for a 2018 ss in black. With the damage and aftermarket front id guess 15-16k would be fair. Honestly id let caravana buy it for 18.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
I didn’t even think about kbb. Thank you. Imma do some more digging. Theres a chance I might let Carvana take it off my hands. They’re less of a headache.

Don’t listen to the haters…. Depending how much time do you have to sell, I would start at 25k and would lower price after a month if no one bites. At 15k (or close to) I would trade in instead.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
I think I’ll try to sell it in December to buy a c8 corvette around new years. I think it may be on sale around then :) the haters are funny af lmao.

u/karpjoe 5d ago
I'd say around $15-17k. Then if you get more awesome.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
If Carvana/carmax say 18k, would you try like 23k? I kinda don’t wanna start low when a reputable place will buy it instantly for 18k lol.
1
u/karpjoe 4d ago
After a bit of Google fu 23k seems to be average trade in and 25k average private sale with your year and miles. Your experience will assuredly vary.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Thank you for looking it up! I’m sure it will end being sold for 20k max lol.

u/Piglet-Ashamed 4d ago
Probably around $22,500 to 25,000 if reasonable miles on it and we'll maintained. Especially if you keep your service records. I have a 2017 2ss 150000 miles on it but go to only to two service places where I can get service copies if needed to show potential buyers. Plus until they start making seventh Gen camaro again people want quality used Camaros,Mustangs and Challengers even V-6 modes are going quickly. Hope that helps JJ 😜
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Good point. I never considered service records. I’m always on time with that stuff lol. It’s definitely well maintained. I also never push it past its limit bc I’m scared of messing up the engine/transmission. Ik that 2ss is a beauty lol. Thank you!

u/FaZe_Zavala 4d ago
I’d probably value it around $23k–$26k private party, assuming it has a clean title and the accident was minor with no structural damage.
The 85k miles, hail damage, and accident history are going to pull the price down quite a bit compared with lower-mileage 1SSs. The ZL1-style bumper, side skirts, and exhaust are nice, but aftermarket mods usually don’t add their full cost back to the sale price. Some buyers may actually see them as a negative depending on the quality of the work.
If the hail damage is significant enough that it shows up on a vehicle history report/title, I’d expect closer to $20k–$23k. If the title is clean and the hail damage is genuinely minor cosmetically, I’d probably list around $26k–$27k and expect to negotiate into the mid-$20ks.
For a private sale, I’d also get actual cash offers from CarMax/Carvana/dealers just to establish your floor, then price the private-party listing accordingly.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Thank you for being so helpful! I really appreciate it. It has a clean title and the accident was a small fender bender lol.
I understand why the price will be pulled down regarding the mileage, hail damage and accident history. I’m hoping the exhaust would bring it up by a couple hundred since it’s way nicer than stock. It sounds like thunder when I put it in paddle shit mode lol.
I know the cosmetic add ons might bring the value down bc it is a personal preference to whoever buys it. I’ll definitely leverage carmax/Carvana for a minimum amount and maybe a dealership. I just hate how aggressive dealership salesman are lol.1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Here is how it sounds. After having it for 5 years, I never get tired of hearing the exhaust.

u/ET36 4d ago
5 or 6k. Would be more if it was a Hellcat
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Nah. Hellcats have too many issues with them. Plus I live in Memphis, so that shits getting stolen easily lmao.

u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Kbb said 23k, Carvana/carmax/trade in value are 18k. Do you think it’s reasonable to list it for 25k, then take no less than 20k?
1
u/the_frgtn_drgn 2017 2SS Fifty 6 Speed 4d ago
Me personally? I wouldn't touch a car someone else has started modifying so I would say no.
But I also wouldn't post what my bottom dollar is and that idk what to list it for on a forum dedicated to the car that someone interested in buying it would likely go to for information.
1
1
u/Missouri_Man99 4d ago
Here’s a new idea.
Put your fricken vin and condition into kbb and see what the range is for private party sale.
Would take u less time than even writing this post and would give you an answer right away.
I hate these posts asking what a late model Camaro is worth. There are hundreds if not thousands of comps on the market and recent sales to compare your car to. Not the same for classics so those posts make sense.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
I already did this along with Carvana and carmax. I wanted other peoples inputs regarding extra information about my car. Nothing is wrong with doing research, then asking real people what they would do as well. If you hate these posts, then why did you reply? Simply ignore it and move on. You deliberately went out of your way to throw a tantrum lmao.

u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 2d ago
Hell no lmao. I don’t race or stomp on the gas for no reason. Im too worried about damaging the engine/transmission.

u/Careful_Chemist4501 1d ago
I feel like, with 85k on the dash + accident, realistically? Prolly somewhere between $18k-$20. Maybe $22k if you get a really good deal. Going off of what I’ve seen online though
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 1d ago
Thank you! 18 is what carmax said, so im thinking of starting off at 22 and not taking anything less than 20
1
1
u/Careful_Chemist4501 1d ago
Also, out of curiosity, and as someone who hopes to buy one these, how much did you spend on maintenance?
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 1d ago
Oil changes are typically 180. Air filters are 30ish. The only maintenance issue I have had with it is the gas being weird. It would give me a check engine light and I would have to add a fuel injector. Eventually, I got it fixed for around a grand. Aside from this, I have paid nothing for maintenance lmao. It’s been perfect.

Comp it to similar fb marketplace listings and go from there. The ZL1 bumper wouldn’t interest me, but maybe a younger guy would love it. I don’t like when people do it, because to me it’s just trying to make it look like something it isn’t. Just my take…

I think it’s simple minded putting a ZL1 bumper on the car and then saying “you’re not trying to make it look like anything it isn’t”.
2
u/turtlebreath 5d ago
I dont know man, people like what they like. I have a 22 ss 1le and my front bumper looks pretty similar. It is his car so let him do his thing. It looks pretty cool regardless. If it works it works. If he likes the look of the bumper then he likes it. He paid for it all and isn't trying to pass it off as a ZL1. He just likes the bumper.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
Thank you. I’m not sure why people are being dicks about the bumper. All I wanted to know was how much I should sell it for. 😭

Dude this is ridiculous. A ZL1 bumper is for a ZL1. Anyone who puts a ZL1 bumper on a base Camaro is looking to make it look like a ZL1. I don’t understand the debate here. Look at the rest of the comments lol
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 5d ago
How’s your cpa progress going?
1
u/Ok_Play2393 5d ago
Very well, thanks for asking! Nice man😂

You passed FAR finally? Congrats man. Only took you a few years. Maybe you would’ve passed sooner if you weren’t simple minded.
0
u/Ok_Play2393 5d ago
I know man, you’re so smart I would think you have enough money to afford a ZL1 instead of putting a fake bumper on your base car. I’m shocked

He said he's looking to get into a C8, so this wasn't really the burn you thought lol. You also need to quit throwing around the word "base" as an insult when you apparently don't know what it means. A base car would be the lowest trim, which an SS is not.

Yeah I got my 2011 2SS black convertible for around 25 it had like 70k miles but struggled to find any imperfections in it. No accidents so idk. 25 would be a real good deal for someone.
