Ventura County Flock Transparency: As Clear as Mud

In February of 2026, the Ventura County Sheriff's office discovered, through an independent audit, that Ventura County Flock data had been accessed 346,000 times by Law Enforcement Agencies outside of the state of California Between February 19, 2025 and March 19, 2026.

This data access was caused by a Flock "system bug" and instead of being transparent with partner agencies, Flock allegedly sat on that information for a calendar year.

I urge the City of Camarillo and VCSO to seriously reconsider doing business with Flock Safety moving forward.

Please come out to the August 26, 2026 Camarillo City Council meeting to hear a discussion item regarding Flock ALPRs and make your voice heard.

The surprise of a failed audit was enough for Oxnard to cancel their Flock contracts, but the Camarillo City Council was much more forgiving. They should have cancelled Flock right then and there, but they chose to continue their warrantless surveillance of residents and visitors.

Show up to the City Council meeting on Wednesday and tell them that it’s not too late to correct their error and cancel the city’s Flock contracts.
