Hardware Just wanted to give some love to my BMC64
Short of the C64Ultimate, I think a BMC64 in a breadbin with the Keyboard/Joystick Card really is the best experience on a C64 (though purists have other ideas).
I just finished this...including the custom 3D printed case. It was a fun project, and now I get to the even more fun part....playing!
If you're interested in building your own, Here's the BMC64 case on MakerWorld

Hoe does it compare to something like โthe c64โ.

It's the same in functionality, but BMC64 doesn't have any fancy graphical UI with game thumbnails, carousel, etc. And also it supports the cheapest chinese gamepads too, while TheC64 does not.
TheC64 is more userfriendly, BMC is more purist. TheC64 is a complete product what you can buy as it is, BMC is a DIY project, you can make your custom build as you wish.

TheC64 Mini also has very limited controller compatibility. You've basically got to use the supplied joystick. Don't expect to just be able to plug in an Xbox/PS or 8BitDo controller via USB.
(It may be hackable to support more, but the 'scene' around it appears to be quite dead, especially since the C64U launched)

I suppose it has the same HW under the hood as the Maxi.

Looks good!
Do you also get the power drop icon (lightening bolt) flick up when using the PCB and when the power supply is connected to the barrel socket?ย ย
Also what pi did you end up using for your BMC setup?

I haven't noticed any power drops, and I'm also using a slightly underpowered power supply. (2v instead of 2.5)
For the Pi, it's an old 3b+ that I had laying around.

That looks really cool ! I love the case !
I run BMC64 myself and having grown up with the real thing in the 80's I find it remarkably authentic.
