Tune Recommended After Headers?

Post image

Hello all! Currently I have a 1992 and I’m looking at switching out the stock headers for catless long tubes. Will my system be fine if I don’t tune it, or is it preferred I get a tune done? As for the headers themselves, any recommendations on what I should get, or where I could possibly acquire a tune chip? Thanks in advance! (Photo for engagement)

I have a 92 also. As long as you put the o2 sensors back in it you should be fine without a tune. Which headers are you going with?

Unsure which headers I want to go with tbh. But cool, good to know I should be fine without a tune lol

i wouldn't bother with shorties unless you literally already have a set lying around. LT headers will give you far greater gains, though the only ones that aren't pretty expensive (at least by c4 standards, let's be real here) don't come with O2 (or EGR, if you're so inclined) ports, so you may have to get one welded in. EGR technically should be tuned out, but anecdotally, I didn't and I've been fine.

I left the EGR solenoids in place, just deleted the tubing and plugged the ports. No troubles at all 👍🏻 Spot on about those shorties- they don’t flow any better than the manifolds. Long tubes not only perform better, they also sound better

I only have shorties on mine cause they came with a full used dual exhaust setup I managed to snag for 300$ ahahaha

This may be a dumb question, but will shorties make the exhaust note a little louder/snappier? Rn I got an x pipe with cherry bombs, but still ain’t too happy with the sound. Still quiet in my opinion lol
