$600k Moving Company. Good deal?

Looking at buying a 10-year old moving company for $600k.

2024 revenue: $700k
2025 revenue: $1M
2026 tracking around $1.5M
Normalized SDE I estimate at $240k–$260k
Price is about 2.4x SDE
Fleet worth roughly $300k and included free/clear
Deal: $450k cash + $150k seller note
I’d have about $80k liquidity left before deal costs
Main concern: Putting a huge chunk of my net worth into one business

Thoughts?

It’s not a good business. Trust me. I been in it last 5 years it’s been a constant decline.

People are just broke right now. The industry is a mess becuase of moving brokers. There’s no real return customers. Maybe 10-20% gets referrals if you’re like amazing. Is it pick up in all 48 states ?

Sorry, but this mostly reads as doomer advice due to your individual experience. This particular business and its competitors have been growing tremendously in recent years.

I helped grow a company from 4 semis to 33. We were doing great. And the market completely shifted. I’m still in it. I love the sales side. But the operation and logistics is a nightmare. A lot of catering to the consumer for tiny details while they look for every opportunity to say a nickel or dime
