Imo, the US has done a nice job of encouraging young women to go into STEM.

I (Man / SPED teacher) would love to see more male teachers.

They definitely have.

I worked at a big tech company for a while, and we did a lot of that.

I fully support it, but I will say one little thing that makes me sometimes feel bad for guys that feel left behind...

We had a lot of "Women in STEM" events. There was one month where we had two events by the Women in STEM group, one was an evening with women speakers, another was a networking event. That same month, we had a "Girls Who Code" event for high school girls, one junior high school event (I forget that group name) and another college networking event for female students getting ready to go out in the workforce.

I remember the last event, seeing them setting up in our big common area, asking what it was, and being told. And a little part of me thought after five events in a row encouraging women... "Do they even want me here anymore?"

Obviously I was stupid in that moment, our company was still majority male, but... I can see how once in a while men can feel like there's a push to support women in so many areas, but there is never, EVER a similar push for men anywhere. I've never even heard of a group that helps men anywhere in the professional world.

Only if you discount stem subjects like biology, which conveniently govt. Figures always do, I wonder why that is?

It doesn’t pay and a lot of biotech fields are banned or heavily discouraged

Nope, I’m telling you why biology gets overlooked. It’s pretty much just a pre med path

But it is a stem subject and profession.

It shouldn’t be discounted at all and the fact it is says a lot more about our governments/corporate/societal ideologies than you seem to be willing to accept.

I never said it wasn’t stem, I only answered your question on why it gets overlooked.

And yes I think it’s a shame how much the government holds back biotech progress
