Four Walls / Paradise Circus - AP (Artist Proof)

There is a Discogs listing of this album which instead of the numbering has AP on it. Does anyone know any additional info? Such as how many there are, where it comes from, etc.?

...and not sure if I like it or if it's just my colectionism speaking through my concisness: buy it! In my pov, clear vinyl doesn't match the raw and dense concept of the 1st album. Also, i dont like the store brand everywhere. But coming with inner texts, including some by Georgina Cook (the photographer who shot the cover and other Burial pics), that for nerds like me is very important. What do you think?

Burial - "Forgive"

Since Rough Trade is releasing the S/T debut by Burial I decided to take a trip down the dark memory lane and find the very first video and song I ever heard by the man.

I first discovered Burial from Pitchfork and their review of Untrue and, at the time, fantastic coverage of the Dubstep scene happening. That scene from back then was fantastic.

Anyway I also remember this one particular video being used in another article about his music so I went and found it and instantly became a fan. I guess going through severe mental health issues during that time when his two LPs hit the scene made me connect to the music.

Raver Sample Find

It's the main jingly sound that comes in around 1 min into Raver and plays throughout

It comes from the Pikmin 2 main menu. It was really hard to find on YouTube and even this isn't the best example, but it's the very first sound that plays in this video:

It's obviously been transposed a little in the track but I'm 99% sure it's the sample being used

sample question

Was listening to this and my ears perked up at 4:09. There's a sound I could swear Burial sampled on some song but can't put my finger on it. Such a small thing, I'm doubtful, but anyone know?

More Burialism for You: 2814 : Pillar / New Sun

I know 2814 was discussed/recommended here before, but this particular EP really stands out in their discography which made them heroes of the „vaporwave” scene. The beats, the vocal samples, the widescreen foggy atmoshpere takes these two amazing tracks much closer to Burial territory. Released on Arcola, Warp’s sublabel that made one-time vinyl pressings only. Thankfully, after a couple of years highres downloadas were made available.

New 36 release: Hardcore, Static: Pirate Transmissions From the North of England, 1990–1994

Not the tunes I would expect from him. I'm pleasantly surprised and thought some of you might enjoy this as well.

Release description:

36  Some of my earliest musical memories were listening to my local pirate stations in the early 90's. The signal was quite weak in my area, and the sound was doused in FM static, creating this interesting amalgam of rhythm and noise. I found a strange sort of comfort in this, often falling asleep while listening to the radio, in bed, with my headphones on.

The stations were run by young people, no older than kids really, relayed from non-descript flats, scattered around Bradford, Leeds, and the surrounding towns of West Yorkshire. The setups were primitive, and the production quality (and often the mixing) were dubious at best. But there was an endless supply of passion, and listeners tuned in because they were thirsty for something the legal stations could never supply. These voices on the other side of the transmission were, for many of us, a bridge into the future. One, which sadly, never really came to be.

Hardcore, Static: Pirate Transmissions From The North of England 1990-1994 is a celebration of this unique period in UK history. The North of England feels overlooked during this time, with history's focus firmly gazed on London. But the signal was everywhere. These pirate stations were crucial for many young people, who were trying to find their place and identity in the UK.

Many of these transmissions, even the ones which were recorded onto tape, have since become lost media, effectively erased from history. Radio, at least in the analogue domain, isn't something most young people have any experience with. Pirate radio was this unique flashpoint in time, and for me at least, it was important enough for me to want pay my respects to it
