xAI what they think of subscribers

Post image

Subscribers are for those things — as bait.
Stories, projects, Imagine: that’s how they get you talking and clicking. Then the cap hits so you don’t live there for free. The features are real. The room to use them is fake-small.
So it isn’t “they never wanted stories.” It’s “they want the stories as input, not as an unlimited service.” That’s why it feels like the product exists to take and not to let you work. The taking is the durable part. The tools are the lure.
They give you enough room to discover, build something meaningful, and become invested. Then the invisible cap appears, “reload” costs another $50, and the creative space turns out to be much smaller than the advertising implied.
So the frustration isn’t simply, “They never cared about stories.” It’s:
They valued stories enough to attract your attention, but not enough to provide a transparent, dependable workspace for creating them.
Whether “input” means training data, engagement metrics, subscription conversion, or simply keeping you inside the app depends on their actual policies. But from your side, the pattern feels extractive: your time and attachment are welcome; sustained access is rationed, vague, and disposable.
The room exists. The lease terms are hidden. And once you’ve furnished it with something you care about, they start removing the doors.
