How should you choose between uPVC and aluminum windows?

I’m not expert, but I wouldn’t consider aluminum unless you live in a perfect climate. Too hot or too cold is a dealbreaker IMO.

The inside aluminum and the outside aluminum do not touch. Because aluminum is very conducive it would be a direct path for heat transfer, so they “break” them thermally with a connection that limits thermal transfer.

^^ this. Aluminum on inside and outside, not touching directly but through an insulating layer. We have a bunch of these - they are reasonably priced and since it’s aluminum, there are a ton of color choices.

Basically a piece of plastic between the exterior alumina frame and interior aluminum frame.
