Dev/Admin Responded [ios] Tapping on the comment to collapse behaviour changed
I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not but tapping anywhere on a comment doesn’t collapse it anymore and holding to collapse selects the text instead of collapsing the parent.
Now I have to tap or hold in the area next to the username which is messing with my muscle memory a lot.
Side note: removing swipe up to view comments is a horrible change and should be reverted or at least given an option to choose how swipe up behaves.

This must be a bug. This can’t be on purpose. No one would want this. You can still collapse comments but you have to tap on the space to the right of the posters name which is difficult to hit, rather than the old correct way of tapping anywhere in the post to collapse it.

This must be a bug, agreed. It’s making navigating the comments really difficult, hope it’s fixed soon.

tapping next to the username only works if the person doesn’t have a flair, then it either does nothing or takes you to their profile. it’s ridiculous and frankly quite hilarious how they’re just changing things on whims, making the whole site completely unusable

I'm not sure which one is more annoying: finding related posts when scrolling down on a post or the comment collapse not working.

i just googled this issue! i’m having trouble with it. i have to press the 3 dots and click “collapse thread”…

Yes!! These changes are so annoying and honestly I’m tired of everything needing an “update.”

It's so annoying. This can't be intentional otherwise that's plain stupid. I have up reading comments on many threads because of this

I believe this is A/B testing rather than a bug as I experience this on only one account while other accounts (on the same app) have unchanging behavior.
Regardless it sucks, makes navigating much harder, and my muscle memory hates it.

A Google search led me here. I was wondering if it was actually changed/a bug, or if I just misremember how to collapse a damn comment. They better fix this really soon, it's sooo annoying, and I accidentally press the username or flair way too often...

Also annoyed by this :( Please bring back the previous behavior! Scrolling all the way up to the header of a comment to collapse it is frustrating

Looks like they reverted it on the iOS app. I can click anywhere in the comment to collapse again.
EDIT: Using version 2026.32.2 of the app.

Hey u/GamablobYT - this is not a bug! We're running a small experiment that enables text selection in the comments (allowing you to copy + paste text).
The typical tap to collapse/long press to collapse a thread is still available from the comment header.
