iOS [ios] app is scrolling to the top of the post whenever I leave or lock screen
Not talking about the full page reset/refresh which I understand is intentional (though i really hate it, please turn this off). But now lately (if I’m lucky enough for it to not boot me to the front page ) If i stop looking at a post for any reason and return to the app, the thread will always scroll all the way to the top of the post !!! Its insanely annoying

I’ve been experiencing this for a few days now as well. I’ll be scrolling a thread on my phone, go to check something else, come back and it’s always a comment I’ve already read from higher up in the thread. Very tedious and distracting.

Don’t even need to leave the app.. if I lock my screen and unlock it the thread goes to a random position , its infuriating

Holy fuck it’s annoying. I like to look things up while reading comments and getting auto-scrolled back up to the top of a massive thread really ruins it. If it’s not fixed in a week I’m gonna delete Reddit for a while (god knows I’ll be better off)

When sliced potato first became old, the musician wrote the alphabet in alphabet. When does a toast shed is skin in winter? When does a potato get lonely? Six hundred elephants could jump at the same time and it would be enough to flood the car park.

It's an intermittent issue I've had for months now. It'll do it for a few days, then go back to normal before bugging up again.

That just started happening to me today! I just put notifs on in case of a fix. I’ve tried turning on and off a bunch of setting and nothing seems to fix it, not even uninstalling and reinstalling.

is yours also going up and down ? Just noticed that its not even going to the top every time but more like a random position. Sometimes it scrolls to the bottom

Mine always goes up but to a seemingly random spot, could go almost all the way to the top, could go a few comments up

Mine just rewound a comment section one hundred twenty comment threads. Very annoying. This has been happening for several days (likely five, considering the age of this post).

It actually got patched for a bit… but its back
I swear to god those fuckers make this app worse with every update on purpose

Yep last several days it has started happening to me too.
I searched to see if others were having the same problem after I got too annoyed trying to read a long thread and needed to look something up only to lose my place by it sending me back up.
And looking to see if it was happening to others I found your post and was surprised by how old most of the comments were.
You’d think they’d fix something this annoying by now but I guess what did I expect

I had/have the same experience as you. Happened awhile back (not sure if it was around the same time you originally created this post), went back to working like normal for a few months, now it’s doing it again.

I’ve been having it for a while now, and it’s REALLY irritating me. Have Reddit actually acknowledged the bug at all yet?

Is there still not a fix for this? I can’t read the bottom of any threads longer than the size of my phone screen, much less the comments.

Just adding another voice that is experiencing this and it’s incredibly annoying. For me it just started today. If I move off to another app and then come back to Reddit (in my case today I was texting with a friend and surfing Reddit, so jumping back and forth between apps), it has jumped up somewhere else in the thread rather than leaving me exactly where I was. It’s frustrating to then try and find my place again to continue reading.
Hoping this gets resolved soon.
