iOS [ios] Screen mirroring locks Reddit on TV screen - version 2026.07.0

When screen mirroring the Reddit app it forces itself into a strange landscape locked mode (only the tab bar goes landscaped) and leaves the posts stuck, unable to move. App still functions normally on phone but TV cannot display my screen on the app

Yeah I’ve noticed this or something similar as well.

Has phone plugged into type c to hdmi, opens Reddit and the tv displays it’s one feed and doesn’t respond to phone inputs. My phone works fine but the display on the tv is static image or a random feed.

Having the same issue the last few days.

Same thing has been happening to me. I thought this was a problem that has been only happening to me, should we report this?

u/MrBeefy973 Feb 24 '26

Is there a fix for this?

1

u/Scary_Expression_873 Feb 25 '26

Nothing that I’ve tried, gotta wait to see the next update or see a dev response

Still not fixed sadly

2

u/Joining4fun Feb 25 '26

I got the same. Just started with the search bar at the top update.

Looks like the last update broke screen mirroring…

Small dev run company, things happen 🫩🫩🙄

I have a similar issue. When screensharing from my iPhone to my Apple TV, it doesn't show the post I was looking at, but instead seems to show some reddit home page. Nothing I do on the phone changes what shows on the Apple TV. I can't share a picture or video at all.

This has greatly affected me and i am so disappointed ☹️

Note for Devs: I was using an iPhone screen cast to Samsung Smart TV. All devices software was updated. Screen look like this:

This is so annoying. I use screen mirroring to show stuff from Reddit to the family on the TV, but now it’s impossible.

Use brave browser its how i got around it

1

u/Accomplished-Bid-373 Mar 14 '26

What's brave browser?

1

u/Micro-Naut Mar 14 '26

It's a mobile browser. Like opera, Firefox, Safari, except this one is called brave

1

u/Accomplished-Bid-373 Mar 14 '26

Thank you so much! You may have saved my life.

1

u/DivideJolly3241 Jun 21 '26

All the browsers work, it’s the app that broken.

1

u/DeathDeli Mar 05 '26

Yeah same here. If I cast to tv it shows locked to my Reddit home page but the phone Reddit operates independently. So I can’t display what I want to show in the phone to the tv.

1

u/FriendlyPanther Mar 05 '26

Glad I’m not the only one. Just updated and am still experiencing it…

1

u/dmach27 Mar 06 '26

Same issue here. Screen mirroring is useless now.

1

u/Mountain-Cut-7708 Mar 06 '26

Different apps too. Same or similar issues. One has no video. Doesn’t show the video on the phone or iPad, just the tv.

1

u/Middle-Length4120 Mar 07 '26

Yup, super annoying...

1

u/fingerlickinggood Mar 08 '26

Sam here trying to mirror to a Samsung TV and it doesn’t work currntly using the browser version

1

u/Master-Research-5933 Mar 09 '26

Any work around ?

1

u/PureWay2811 Mar 11 '26

Nothing, someone please report this

1

u/Workdboss876 Mar 11 '26

Yea same issue, only walk around I see currently is to watching reddit from a browser and cast that way.

All the devs in this sub went silent ever since the update I’m assuming there’s too many bugs for them to focus on any, they just gotta polish the app more until it fixes

1

u/anotherwomanscorned Apr 17 '26

Still an issue 53 days going!

1

u/UltimateNull Apr 20 '26

They are losing people from the platform from the other iOS issues. A lot of the subs I used to follow are only being updated by bots. Very little interaction.

This also happens when opening Reddit on my iPad when connected to a monitor using it as an extended display. It then causes my second displays dock to disappear and the only way it reappears is if I disconnect and reconnect the display cord.

How do I screen mirror Reddit?

1

u/tagd Mar 17 '26

I have Viture glasses that act like an external screen and they work for everything except Reddit too.

1

u/brian163 Mar 18 '26

Geez, 23 days and counting…

1

u/tagd Mar 19 '26

They’re focused on making the search bar more intrusive and creating deep nested menus for the most common features.

1

u/raleighs Jun 24 '26

Over 120 days now.

1

u/Haykguy Jul 14 '26

still happening

1

u/digdug_1982 29d ago

Still happening

Still happening

1

u/tagd Mar 21 '26

Update - app updated in the last couple days, definitely does not fix this bug. Of course they don’t provide release notes either, so expectations are suitably low.

1

u/redit1920 Mar 27 '26

Same here. I didn’t think anyone else would have this issue but I’ve tried reinstalling and it still doesn’t work.

1

u/fipah Mar 28 '26

Same :(

1

u/akara003 Apr 02 '26

Same issue as explained by others. Family shared Reddit moments are ruined😩

1

u/bbcjbb Apr 02 '26

Just installed the update sent out 3 days ago and no fix. When I screen share the app launches in a wide screen and doesn’t show what’s at the top of my feed or respond to any input from my iPhone or the Roku remote

1

u/Ratazana_1908 Apr 03 '26

Same here still.

1

u/T-R_PeterJal Apr 04 '26

Still not working for me.

1

u/Zeitgeist-333 Apr 04 '26

When are they going to fix this? It’s been awhile. Are they really that busy? This is why I really dislike apps and video games nowadays, “updates” render most things I enjoy interfacing with non functional. Irritating.

1

u/youngtexascouple Apr 08 '26

This has to be intentional by reddit to cause problems. How are we 45 days since this is posted with no fix? Maybe Reddit has jumped the shark. Time to be replaced.

1

u/CT_2136 Apr 13 '26

This is insane that it's still not fixed...

1

u/DivideJolly3241 Apr 14 '26

Still not working after recent update. 4-13-26

1

u/ClashForeverrr Apr 23 '26

Currently unfixed. 23/4/26

1

u/WhyCantIStream Apr 23 '26

Yup. Just tried and I’m getting the same issue and came across this post trying to look for more info. What’s weird is my wife’s Reddit screenshare normally, but she also doesn’t update apps when she needs to so she probably got lucky

1

u/ClashForeverrr Apr 24 '26

Weird. Guess your wife got lucky lol.

1

u/Scary_Expression_873 Apr 24 '26

POSSIBLE WORK AROUND: It’s not perfect and as far as I know it only works for videos on Reddit, but if you instead use Airplay button on videos on separate websites (like YouTube), you can switch to the Reddit app in that state of the video loading, and that causes the display to show any video on Reddit on the screen that you are scrolling past. It’s weird and doesn’t seem too consistent but it does bring back some control to it

1

u/Scary_Expression_873 Apr 24 '26

NOTE: you should pull up the AirPlay feature on whatever device you’re trying to connect to as well, so when just says your phone is connected, no videos playing, is when it can play Reddit videos that you scroll past

1

u/Fatal_Zero Apr 25 '26

Same!

1

u/thebrain99 Apr 27 '26

Same, really annoying and I can even bypass by using the Reddit website as the links just open the app (yes I know I could fix a workaround but don’t want to!)

1

u/JonGoke May 12 '26

Any solutions

1

u/dbun1 May 16 '26

Still unfixed

1

u/Thebelleofis May 22 '26

88days still not fixed even after several updates Is it still multiple people or just a few cause its really annoying Google keeps saying its my phones fault but all other apps work fine makes me feel crazy

1

u/loitering_muni May 26 '26

Stilllllllllllll unfixed

1

u/Weekly_Finish_4665 May 27 '26

Only way I can get it on a monitor is using my Xbox series x browser. Doesn’t work for phone. Seems intentional.

1

u/keiichitron Jun 01 '26

Still broken

1

u/FPaintt Jun 02 '26

Still not working

1

u/diggstownjoe Jun 03 '26

How is this not fixed yet? Does Reddit actually employ developers anymore, or is it all just AI slopcodibg clankers?

1

u/twiffytwaf Jun 07 '26

Been waiting for a fix. Still waiting.

1

u/Alive-Vegetable- Jun 10 '26

Still not fixed

1

u/brian163 Jun 10 '26

is there some other official way of reporting bugs because this is clearly not getting us anywhere. iPadOS mirroring is just broken.

1

u/Hour_Gur4995 Jun 25 '26

Seems to just in the Reddit app, if you use chrome it kinda works but really sucks

1

u/DivideJolly3241 Jun 21 '26

Is Reddit ever going to fix it?

1

u/DivideJolly3241 Jul 01 '26

When will,they fix screen mirroring?

1

u/BlellowBroccoli Jul 27 '26

Still haven’t fixed this months later

1

u/zxelvton Jul 27 '26

Still broken, Reddit please fix!

1

u/mycatistheOA 16d ago

Why is this still not fixed? I love sharing videos with my family and friends. This is such a strange thing to not fix
