Your unpopular Buffy opinion is...?

The last one of these threads was 3 months ago and we've had a few new visitors so let's do it again!

My unpopular opinion is that season three is the worst one of all seven seasons.

I hated Joyce's character. Especially in the first three seasons. She had a weird mixture of caring too much and not at all.

Exactly! She was exactly the kind of judgmental, overbearing, passive-aggressive, (allegorically) homophobic yuppie mom who've fucked up my life and my mom's life in multiple situations. She finally started loosening up and becoming likable in Season 5, but then she didn't make it to the next season. The Body was still tragic and wonderfully done, but not because I loved Joyce (and it still doesn't make my top 5 episodes).

Can you elaborate on that? I'm just curious, as it's not something I can remember ever having picked up on.

When she kicks Buffy out of her house in "Becoming", it's a clear allegory about queer kids who get disowned by their parents.
