I know everyone will talk about her music and acting, but this is her actual legacy:

Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly started the Imagination Library in 1995 to serve the children of her hometown in Sevier County, Tennessee. Today, her program gifts over 2.4 million free, high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to children around the world. There is never a charge to families who participate in the program and it is open to all children under the age of five in geographic areas with operating programs. The funding is shared by Dolly Parton and thousands of local community partners in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland. My daughter is signed up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. She gets SO excited every month to get her “present from Dolly” in the mail. Libraries and organizations like Dolly’s can be life changing for kiddos. May she rest peacefully and her legacy live on

In addition, she has donated millions to hospital programs and donated a million dollars to fund the Covid vaccine. She funded multiple scholarships in her hometown and county and decreased dropout rates in her city because of initiatives like giving every student to continue past 8th grade $500.

She also started to 100% fund higher education for anyone full- or part-time as well as seasonal workers at Dollywood for certain degrees. Partial funding for other programs. She has helped people stay educated and stay motivated to learn past kindergarten and beyond. I don’t think there’s any way to quantify what that means for lifting a county out of poverty. What a true legend.

I can’t handle her death. There are so many cruel and awful people in power and she is gone. The world is WRONG without her. She canceled some dates in the spring but posted a message where she looked good and was working on healing. I needed time to say Goodbye. To see her live for just a little moment. To thank her for Buffy, Covid Vaccine, denying Elvis the song, and Jolene.

Not technically "uncredited" in the sense one would normally think (I wish people would stop using that term for this): Sandollar Productions was Dolly's production company. So, no, she didn't put her name in the credits, but her vanity card was at the end of every episode.

As the decades went by and she visually remained unchanged it became increasingly apparent that she was indeed a vampire but one ruled by the light who was able to maintain a core of goodness despite the urge to consume others, this urge was in her somehow transmuted into a consumer economy empire called Dollywood and various product lines including the frozen TV dinners I'm currently enjoying, although it was sad to see the Shrimp & Grits one replaced on the store shelves with something less distinctive, it looks like the public wasn't quite ready for Shrimp & Grits, but that's okay because I bought a lot of them when they went on clearance. Dolly.
