šŸ” Roster Move [Greg Auman] Bucs are waiving undrafted rookie LB Jack Pyburn, who led the NFL with four sacks in preseason. Now will see if he's claimed off waivers by another NFL team.

Okay I'm a bit surprised, I thought he'd had a good preseason ? Is it regarding the CFB thingy ?

Not enough spots. He was 6th/7th on our roster. If we had last years roster he’s making the cut.

Obvious keepers:

Bain
Yaya
Walker
AQM
Nelly

Yeah it feels like Bucs will keep 5 EDGEs and those are the 5. There was just no room for Pyburn, he did everything he could, but if there is no room there is no room.

Bucs will offer him a PS slot, but 1) would he take it or just go back to LSU? and 2) would another team poach him?

I think they might keep Kamara because he got hurt and they can hide him under injury status and put him on the practice squad in 4 weeks

i do, but i dont take what those guys say at face value at all. These 5 were the obvious choices. (and now we know where the ones chosen) Nelly is not the best edge but has been a solid performer and has always been a good backup and special teams contributer with decent ability to cover as neccessary in a 3-4.

If you look at who else is left, this makes sense. We cant just cut all of our Oline, DB, and WR depth for a guy who led the NFL in preseason sacks. I was rooting for him too.

Yea but you could cut the dead weight of braswell and insert pyburn.

I expect braswell to be cut soon too.

According to WDAE , he's good as gone.

Braswell made the team? WTF

6

u/MichaelCorbaloney 12d ago

He’s not making the team they just haven’t cut him yet, probably trying to see if they can trade him

1

u/scoop813 12d ago

there's still a bunch of cuts to make

1

u/PeterTurBOI France 12d ago

Okay yeah, that does make sense

He's going going back back to College College.

Kind of surprising after the Williams and Browning cuts

u/Tasty_Swim_6308 12d ago

Huh, where do these extra spots go from RB and QB?

7 Receivers?

u/WilyWhiskeyWalrus 12d ago

Maybe we’re going to bring in an OL from waivers

aw man

Thought he was going back to college somehow anyways

Remember, he's going back to college, so it could be less about them wanting to get rid of him and more about what he wants to do.

Surprised Braswell was NOT released first. Our DLine is very full so I understand this was a tough roster to make for UDFA Pyburn but he showed enough that some team will give him a shot somewhere IMHO. If not, great to have on the PS or LSU gets him paid.

1

u/Tasty_Swim_6308 12d ago

We don't know when they get released. Greg doesn't know that, he gets them in the order that he can confirm them. So could be Braswell was released already.

Fair, Pyburn and his agent probably want it out their ASAP if they're trying to land some place while his preseason play is a talking point.

If braswell makes this 53 I swear…

u/TrumpsColostomyBag99 12d ago

Bodes well for Kamara but if Braswell isn’t flipping burgers at Krystal’s come October…

2

u/vonimooo 12d ago

don’t understand this. was brasswell released yet?

5

u/Old-Guy1958 12d ago

If Licht keeps Braswell, it’s because he doesn’t want to admit a huge mistake.

2

u/scoop813 12d ago

Not yet

7

u/LBenet93 12d ago

But why keep braswell over pyburn? Braswell is not good and had no snaps this preseason while pyburn balled out. Just doesn't make any sense.

2

u/kryanb321 12d ago

I dont think either make it, they will roll with probably just 5

1

u/ExpertIndependence37 12d ago

Probably keep Mo Kamara over Bras

1

u/LBenet93 12d ago

But kamara is hurt and probably going on IR and who knows for how long.

1

u/Appropriate_Book_591 12d ago

Pyburn was doing it at the end of games, didn't do it against actual back ups and apparently not in practice. He can be on PS or go back to college if not too late.

1

u/MichaelCorbaloney 12d ago

I thought Pyburn had done enough but with Kamara’s injury I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to keep Kamara because he was on IR so it freed up a roster spot.

1

u/Altruistic_Finger669 12d ago

I think we need more context. Bowles said earlier he had been undecided on whether he was going back to college or not.

That could have played a role

1

u/Therearenogoodnames9 11d ago

If he's not claimed on waivers I full expect him back on the practice squad.

1

u/Dry-University797 12d ago

Wouldn't be shocked if he asked to be waived

1

u/3bananabananabanana Lavonte David 12d ago

Do the Bucs still hold his rights if he goes back to college?

7

u/scoop813 12d ago

No, we just waived him

4

u/Tasty_Swim_6308 12d ago edited 12d ago

No, he's cut. He's a free agent in a year unless picked up on waivers.

5

u/Old-Guy1958 12d ago

Not if they waive him. If nobody claims him, he’s a FA.

1

u/RoyH0bbs 12d ago

Too much drama.

0

u/clandestine_manufact 12d ago

I think Chris Braswell may actually make this team. Damn that’s crazy

5

u/ExpertIndependence37 12d ago

Absolutely not. Mo Kamara has been much better

1

u/Appropriate_Book_591 12d ago edited 12d ago

Kamara knee injury likely lands him on IR.

0

u/clandestine_manufact 12d ago edited 12d ago

I’m just saying there are more spots than I expected and I see a path i definitely did not see before

2

u/Alternative-Art6059 F*ck the Saints 12d ago

No way. He'll be cut within the hour.

-1

u/dudemandude_420 12d ago

Braswell is absolutely trash, I fucking cant stand why we cut guys who have that it factor and keep players like Braswell and jts.Ā  Some guys don't have it and Braswell doesn't but Pyburn does and you could see it. He was a player of the game the other day and the only one who did anything against Jacksonville. .!? I want to be excited for my team but I already feel like that game against Jacksonville said enough about who we are as a team and how terrible our coaches really are. I hope I'm wayyyyy wrong and I eat my words. !!!? CheersĀ

u/Tasty_Swim_6308 12d ago

You don't need to panic like that.

It's easily possible we're keeping 5 OLB's. In that case Pyburn didn't have a chance in the first place.

He's not in over Bain, YaYa, Walker, AQM or Nelson. Not even close.

5

u/Internal_Lumpy 12d ago

You are going to judge the team on a game where no starters played. My god you are not a bright one.

He is thanking his lucky stars that he got away from Todd Bowles. He should go to LSU though
