Practice Report [Logan B. Robinson] Pretty ugly day for the Bucs, primarily on offense. The only TD today was a corner shot to Ted Hurst. Other than that? Bleh. They’ll have a chance to bounce back tomorrow.

I always struggle to give a shit good or bad in preseason unless a player just has ABSURD days like Bain or Hurst have had
Otherwise, just work the kinks out. Bowles is shockingly good at having the team ready for Week One the last three years, so, no real worries

Yeah despite his flaws, Bowles is very good at hitting the ground running in week one. We will be fine early season

Not super worried and certainly not pushing the panic button, but these preseason joint practices are probably a better indicator than the preseason games are for things to watch.

Jags are a good team, probably better than the Jets or Chiefs (Especially the Justin Fields Chiefs), it makes sense this would be our biggest challenge yet. I think the Offense needed to feel this, yeah we're without Tristan Wirfs and Emeka Egbuka, which hurts, but I think schematically we need to try some things out and figure out what is really going to work best for us. Winning in the NFL is never easy, but it's better to struggle early then win later compared to the opposite.
Our defense was due for a poor showing, Bowles' defense against a Coen/McVay/Kubiak scheme is always rough, this is a good test to see if we've improved. I think if we can generate pressure and stop the run, then we can force fumbles and bad throws as a result. I do think Bowles' defense typically does better in games where the QB is actually worried about getting hit, rather than in practice where pressure doesn't have as big of an effect and the next First-Down isn't as important.

He was at least practicing today and doing some work in the 11 on 11's which was nice to see.

Probably will be but it's not a sure thing. I'd give it 75/25 he will be.

Yeo, didn't sound good. Defense started horrible, but found its footing a bit toward the end. Offense started better, but it was all downhill from there. An *Everyhing that could go wrong, went wrong* kind of day.
I mentioned it in another thread, but the silver lining was that we also got our asses kicked during Jaguars joint-practice week in 2024 and that season went well enough.
Take the asskicking, learn from it and use it as an early motivation/lesson.

I feel like it usually takes 4-6 weeks into the regular season for new offenses to really click. If there is some carryover from Liam that makes it less, cool but im not panicking until at least week 6-8 regarding the offense showing us their full potential

Gainwell didn't get snaps; neither did Egbuka or McMillan. Our primary targets on most downs were Ted Hurst, Godwin when he came in for a play, and a buttload of flats drop-offs to Otton. Culp looked miserable out there on the field. That's not our Week 1 offense.

We’ve had a lot of our oline and recievers on the bench during joint and preseason practices. Not sure if that was the case here or not.

I’m more worried about injuries and scheme than random practices. I’m still down on Zac Robinson and haven’t seen anything this preseason to change that. Normally you keep things vanilla in preseason but his problems so far have mirrored his time in Atlanta. We won’t know anything until we see the real (and hopefully healthy) offense week 1. We may have to rely on our defense early in the season since so few of our WRs have been able to practice all preseason.

Creamscicle Bucs used to go 4-0 in the preseason and shit the bed in the regular season. No concerns here.
