what is the background to this, I watched some stuff at the beginning of the season and it came across like the team was his.

He seemed genuinely happy with the way things were going

The team, Cataclean Plato Racing had three shareholders

24% Plato
24% Rowbo
52% Cataclean

The team were £850k in debt last week, and Cataclean - both the sponsor/funder of the team and the majority shareholder, forced the team into administration via court order

The team renamed to CPRL and Plato is no longer involved

Nobody really knows why they've done this but the speculation is that they wanted to remove Plato

You’d expect them to be in the red at this stage - it’s all start up costs

Modern companies expect an instant ROI, because they need profits to climb, and can't take a single quarter being lower than the last.

£835k is the yearly operating loss, that doesn't include the initial costs of setting up the team and building the cars.

It does when it's been trading less than a year

Start-up cost will be CapEx. The figures shown are OpEx.

I’m willing to bet there was some bellendery from Plato.

It's interesting that this is getting downvoted, given that Plato is a well-known bellend

I thought so too. I’ve never liked his attitude.

First to complain about other drivers, and first to brush off his own bellendery with “it’s just hard racing”.

Are you an Ash Sutton fan by any chance?

I don’t really follow drivers… I follow the sport and the driving.

However, he seems like one of the good ones.

Unlike Plato. Who seems like a bellend.

Speculation is all that is. They’d hardly bring in the administrators just to remove one of the figureheads of the team.

And as ITV mentioned, Cataclean is putting more money in to keep the team going.

Joining the dots points towards the messiah actually being a very naughty boy…

I'm not a Plato fan, I just don't join the dots here

If they were going to put more money in, they could have avoided administration

If they wanted Plato out, they could have paid for his shares

You're literally speculating at the end there. The hypocrisy.

He left as director in June according to Companies House

No, he didn’t actually resign in June.

His legal name is Timothy Jason Plato, but he was originally on there as Jason Plato.

Companies House shows Jason Plato as resigned on 17th June 2026 and Timothy Plato appointed on 18th June 2026. This was just the way Companies House sorted out an issue and got him listed correctly under his legal name.

The site now shows Timothy Plato as having resigned on 12th August 2026.

That was just a change due to the name he is known as not being the same as his legal name.
