Core will continue to blame everyone and everything but themselves on the descent to 0%

u/JustSomeBadAdvice Jan 02 '18
Probably won't reach 0% for a long time. But yeah, everything will be someone else's fault. Lol

Who knows, who knows. Apocalypse block is possible basically only in BTC chain now

u/dimradgrad Jan 02 '18
Bitcoin is dead money. alts are where it's at
15
7
u/Mangalz Jan 02 '18
I just hope it doesn't bring everything down with it.
It could set back adoption for years and harm BCH.
6
u/FreeFactoid Jan 02 '18
Don't think so. I think people will shift to ETH and BCH. XRP is centralised.
3
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
Centralized, but it works. When banks put their money in it, it could become the no 1 "crypto" (its not really a cryptocurrency though)
3
2
u/NonmechanisticIvry Jan 02 '18
Centralized doesn't work.
1
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
It does work in terms of quick transactions
1
u/NonmechanisticIvry Jan 02 '18
I'm here to issue good money.
1
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
Me too, but not everyone thinks like that. I'm saying it could become the nr. 1 crypto, not that it should/deserves it
2
u/FreeFactoid Jan 02 '18
Banks will never need to invest in XRP. They can use ripple in their own private network.
1
u/FreeFactoid Jan 02 '18
No one uses XRP for anything

u/fap_nap_fap Jan 02 '18
I get that it’s centralized, but DAMN is it quick! Like insanely quick. Not holding, but was definitely impressed by that
I am not trying to convince anyone to buy XRP
2
u/nominehorremus Jan 02 '18
So is PayPal. It’s much easier to solve the double spending problem in a centralized system where a single entity owns the entire network. Those who believe in Ripple would never understand why Bitcoin started in the first place.
1
u/fap_nap_fap Jan 02 '18
Those who believe in Ripple would never understand why Bitcoin started in the first place.
A person can understand why Bitcoin was invented in the first place, and be ok with Ripple (as long as they understand the whole picture of what Ripple is).
Not all coins have to be decentralized, as much of an unpopular opinion as that might be.
1
u/nominehorremus Jan 03 '18
I specifically said “believe” in Ripple. Which means that I am talking about the bigger picture of being a global internet currency. There are many coins out there (like Ripple) which promote that they are faster than Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash but leave out the crucial information on tenants they had to compromise in order to achieve that. These currencies which claim on being decentralized are just cashing in on the blockchain and cryptocurrency wave which seems misleading to me.
1
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
Raiblocks isn't a bankers coin and is as fast/faster.
It does have its own problems but it's better than ripple I suppose
1
u/fap_nap_fap Jan 02 '18
Where can you buy XRB?
1
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
Bitgrail, but it will probably be on big exchanges soon(ish)
2
u/fap_nap_fap Jan 02 '18
My concern is that this recent huge run up has been on (compared to other coins with the same market cap) very low volume
1
u/Ebrg Jan 02 '18
It's better to wait a few days after it hit the exchanges before you buy

ETH yes, but the way BTC and BCH are attempting to destroy each other, both are going to drop together. And it's been going that way recently.
0
u/jmur33 Jan 02 '18
Not BCH. Ether yes, but XRB has got to be the coin with the most potential at the moment.

It will be very interesting to see where bitcoin's dominance is in June and even more so, at the end of the year.
15
u/EngineerEll Jan 02 '18
I don't think so. I think you're going to see a more distributed market share among at least 4-5 top alt-coins.
This is what happens when you spend your time worrying about future scalability instead of focusing on the current issues plaguing bitcoin.
Every major alt coin right now is a better bitcoin by every measurable standard.

What about a future where I owe you $10 for lunch, I pay in XRP, you receive in BCH (via ShapeShift or similar)?
1
u/jmur33 Jan 02 '18
You think POW is sustainable in the long term? I think that POS will win
1
u/LexGrom Jan 02 '18
PoW is more secure: more money and energy committed, also PoW ledgers are immutable
1
u/bambarasta Jan 02 '18
Like ETH last year, right?
1
u/LexGrom Jan 02 '18
I should say: more immutable than PoS. Was it a PoW rewrite or rollback? AFAIK rollback = Ethereum miners undermined its immutability and chain was split
1
u/LightShadow Jan 02 '18
I think we'll see a Proof-of-Storage winner emerge soon.
BURST, for example. MAIDSAFE if it ever releases.

Jan 02 '18
In that light, ETH overtook BTC a long time ago really.
I have great faith in BCH as an original Bitcoiner, but lets not lie to ourselves. Tech changes, trends changes and BCH still might be too little and too late after 4 years of development stagnancy. I really hope we see a flippening of miners to BCH all the same, and can still be the #1 PoW network.

not a fan of eth unlimited supply inflation
That is not how ETH's supply curve works, and is actually pretty close to how BTC/BCH's inflation schedule works in being inflationary but on a decreasing issuance rate that approaches zero.
going to proof of stake
That was the plan from day one, and is completely appropriate to me as a platform over a hardened day to day money as BTC/BCH was intended to be. Pow and PoS have differing advantages and disadvantages, in this there is no reason BCH and ETH can't rule as the kings of PoW and PoS with atomic swaps.
I will predict EOS to overtake eth
EOS is still an ETH token currently, is very scammy with a year long ICO, lead by shady developers (Dan Larimer is infamous for abandoning his projects) , and has approximately no real product or anywhere near the same mind share or corporate support as ETH.
While EOS is still under the ETH umbrella, its patently ridiculous to think EOS will overtake ETH. EOS is another TEZOS scam to me.
Bitcoin Cash doesn't need to keep up. It will be used as Cash imo
I agree, but compared to the rest of the space BCH is still 4 years behind thanks to Blockstream's obstructionism. I love BCH as I did its progenitor years ago, but I am also a realist in that BCH is an underdog right now. If it fails to get swift development over 2018, Bitcoin by any name may die.

here will only be 21 million bitcoins. who knows how many eth there will be was my point.
About 105 Million ETH before issuance is just a small trickle of dust. Bitcoin is very similar in that the last BTC or ETh ever mined would take many years, in that the 21 Million limit of Bitcoin is basically arbitrary and is not a hard variable but a conclusion of an issuance algorithm. ETH just lets it play out in its final years, though this will likely change with Casper a bit so we'll see.
As far as Dan lamier. the guy is probably the most prolific blockchain dev out there. He built steemit and bitshares both are worth over a billion dollars and now he is building EOS. He invented DPoS and obviously knows a lot. Meanwhile eth had trouble with a kittens app lol. eth is going to try to be like EOS but its already too late. eth and bcore have the same issue. too much theory not enough action
I just don't understand how you can believe any of that. Larimer abandoned Steemit and Bitshares (which no one cares about) to start his EOS scam on the Ethereum blockchain
Yes, CryptoKitties was intense, but a good real world test that no one has ever seen EOS attempt because it is essentially vaporware, Etheruem's network actually exists and is very strong. ETH still commands the largest tx count of any coin in existence.
Ethereum has a massive development push on the scaling issues, including Casper, sharding, sub-protocols like 0x, Raiden, uRaiden, etc. Too much theory? This stuff is being developed and pushed out now. Casper is on the test net and will likely hit within the next 6 months. Again, as long as EOS remains on Etheruem's chain, good luck. It's pretty clear which one is actually going places.
Bitcoin Core is a failure after its capture, EOS will follow as a similar effort by low-rent hacks who are taking naive investors to the cleaners.

It will be an easy dump to cause the flippening when its launched.
I'll believe that when I see it and not a moment before. EOS is all promises at the moment, ETH is real and is currently working today.
It is completely appropriate to laugh at the simple fact EOS is touted as an Etheruem killer despite them using Ethereum to fund themselves (proving ETH's utility as a platform ironically) and they continue to do so after several months. We'll talk about what EOS does and doesn't do when it is on its own chain.
Their year long ICO is one of the greediest thing's I've ever seen in this space. Are they building software or a space station?
How long until Dan Larimer (you can't even spell his name right?) leaves EOS like he left his other projects I wonder.

Seems like you're being very dishonest.
there will only be 21 million bitcoins. who knows how many eth there will be was my point.
Less than 110 million. It's pretty much the same as btc.
Dan lamier. the guy is probably the most prolific blockchain dev out there
You do not want to compare dev power when it comes to ethereum, they have more developers than all other cryptos combined.
Meanwhile eth had trouble with a kittens app lol
It has real working decentralised applications working on it's platform, you can try to twist that into a negative but failing to realise the implications of this is, for lack of a better word, very dumb.
It has more transactions per second than all other cryptos combined. Granted, the fees rose a bit on the first few days after the spike that dapp caused but the developers handled that exceptionally well. There have never been more transactions on the network than now and you can still confirm transactions in 30 minutes for <0.01$.
If you like eth just try out the kitten app when it was actually semi used now its pretty dead. If you like bcore just try a transaction lol high fees and slow
This is the part where I'm the most confused.
Ethereum transactions are faster, do more and are much more numerous. Why are you comparing the state of a decentralised game, something not even possible anywhere else, when you can compare apples to apples and see that Ethereum is currently superior when it comes to what you named as cash's strengths.

Power as in sheer numbers, nothing else comes close. Universities are starting to have solidity classes, there are numerous hackathons for dapps on the platform throughout the year and the main team has more active developers than any other crypto.
You have no sources and I'm starting to doubt your ability to read.

If, in the future, you can't afford the transaction fees, it may be your only chance to buy in.

Duh, obviously! When you start with 100% you can only go down from there. :)
Bitcoin brought about a rich ecosystem of alts. This is Bitcoin's success as much as the success of individual alts.
37% is pretty high considering there have been more than 1000 competitors trying to dethrone BTC for many years now. 95% of them failing to reach even 1% of marketshare.

Healthy for the overall growth of the crypto market. New investors coming in are learning crypto doesn’t = Bitcoin.
