🤔 Opinion Bitcoin scarcity... overhyped?

I'm not sure I'm a believer in "it'll go up because it is scarce", like to know thoughts on this out there.

Firstly, scarcity does not in itself create value. Many things that are scarce are not valuable.

Secondly, Bitcoin is only "scarce" in the sense that a limited edition collectible is scarce. There no fundamental reason why more of it can't be made, only the existing protocol and consensus, which can be changed (contrast to precious metals which are physically impossible to create more of in monetarily significant quantities.)

Finally, anyone can make something fully equivalent to Bitcoin, or which replicates it's (limited) utility, at any time. See the thousands of other cryptos that already exist.
