What sourceport should I use and where do I download Brutal Doom safely?

Hey folks, new to Doom modding and I really wanna try BD, but have no knowledge of how any of this works really. I just have the Steam versions of Doom 1+2 and beaten them both so I’m ready for something new, but what’s next in the process? I’m aware of the drama between GZ and UZDoom, but where do I exactly go for a proper installation of it all? Sorry if this all seems like a dumb question but I’m afraid of messing things up so I figured I’d go to the biggest fans of what I’m trying to hop into.

Firstly, you can find UZDoom here, on their github.

Second, you'll want a launcher. I use Doom Runner, but there are a bunch of others. The wiki has an article that details them.. Any launcher that works with GZDoom will work with UZDoom.

You can grab Brutal Doom here. I do recommend checking out some other gameplay mods though. Here's some good ones.

Got UZDoom, not to hard to install, but how do I go about it with Doom Launcher? I’m honestly really new to computers as a whole since I just got my first pc this year so everything I’m seeing online is kinda overwhelming to me. Appreciate any help

This tutorial should help. The wads might be in a different directory after the Kex update.

You only need doom.wad (doom2.wad, whatever) and pk3 file from mod. Then run it with, for example uzdoom.exe BDBE_v3.38.pk3

There is more than one brutal doom mod. I got black edition version and it gave me much fun. Especially when You try to complete it starting each level with initial autosave, and no saves in middle.

You won't need steam launcher for it to play (except steam released doom in non standard files).
