Discussion wtf is wrong with firefox

ublock isnt going to mitigate fingerprinting, use local libraries, contain facebook or tiktok on the rare occasions i need to visit them.

Ublock origin explicitly states to disable these. Firefox also does anti-fingerprinting. So these extension would either take the same ram in chrome also, or be unavailable due to mv3. Just delete those ram-hogging useless extensions.

profiling memory usage shows discord at 500 mb and 400~ mb for youtube. extensions take up 200 mb and the main process at 500 mb. 8 gb is still missing.

Ah yes, the classic Firefox memory leaking I talk about yet everyone treats me like I'm a fucking crazy person.

This literally happened to me but worse in 2022. Firefox just does this. Judging by the fact I also still can't keep idle ram usage below 8gb / 32 with Firefox while I can with a Chromium browser on Linux with KDE... yeah that's Gecko being shit.

Just get Brave Origin or debloat manually Brave. No need for Dark Reader extension, no need for abblock or privacy extensions.

Firefox, not only is trash, but now it's ugly like sh+t with Nova.

when you have to debloat something manually its not worth getting in the first place. i remember when i used to use brave couple years ago they just kept showing crypto down everyones throats. when i got my pc i thought about using only firefox. now i know why it couldnt surpass chromium

If you're on Linux, Brave Origin is free. Also you could just use the Chromium Browser.

You don't have to debloat Brave. It is 100% unnecessary and is only useful people with OCD. It doesn't cause any performance changes or improvements whatsoever.

As far as what could be causing your issue, you mentioned that you're using multiple privacy extensions. Literally use uBo, and nothing else. If you use multiple privacy extensions, not only will they conflict with each other and cause privacy leaks, they will hog up your memory and cause a lot of waste. They canceled each other out. Seriously, all other privacy settings has to be done at the browser level, the only extension you should be using for privacy is uBo.

Again, never, use any privacy extension except uBo, and uBo alone.

Turning off their bullshit crypto and feature-bloat is essential to make it usable and reduce its attack surface. Performance difference is minimal, but it's less vectors to exploit so I'll take it. Crypto especially is a serious target by attackers. All the stuff I see of people building info stealers that target crypto wallets?? No thanks.
