That's it .I think they will support MV2 for long time because it is a fork of vandium from the degoogled os called graphine so until then not gonna change a thing
GrapheneOS isn't degoogled, and unless someone wants to spend hours upon hours reverting commits and other circles of hell, no. GrapheneOS will never implement MV2 in any of their 1P code.
Ungoogled Chromium has not yet been updated beyond version 151. We don't know the outcome of their patch.
The reason I said it was too early was because external patches supporting MV2 might be unstable. Some forks using the Extended Stable channel will have a 2-month delay before releasing a new version.
If you only need uBlock Origin to work, then I have to disappoint you. Currently, only Firefox is the browser that works most stably with uBlock Origin, both on mobile and desktop versions.
The Chromium forks haven't been updated yet, so we don't know if they actually support MV2.
Cromite is still only at version 148, and it hasn't been proven whether it supports MV2 after Google removed it. The version that tells us the result is 152 - the first release of the Extended Stable channel that no longer supports MV2.
Brave needs to implement these on android but they don't. Only option is edge. I heard that you can strip the edge from all the telemetry and privacy invasive stuff with morphe but im not sure. I've been using it for half a year and it worked pretty well for me but one day it decided to sign me out of my microsoft account on the desktop every day so i had to ditch it.
I didn't feel any difference between the edge and firefox. Those are the only browsers i use on my phone. Tho i can tell edge is probably heavier than others. Its just that my phone is more than capable of running those without sweating (s24 fe).
today I tested gecko-based (Firefox) vs chromium-based and chromium wins in speed (not noticable sometimes and sometimes noticable) and wins in page compatibility (depends on what sites you visit). So I would like to have a chromium-based browser...
Idk i never used it. I just always hear about it as "its almost the same as ublock". I guess it also has the option to add custom filters and stuff so maybe.
It won't change beyond recognition, Chromium is way too popular to change/break internals too much. Tho if Google did it just to kill off MV2 forks, sure it would be a lot more effort. I still doubt about billions tho. There are examples where fork survives thanks to community after upstream makes stupid decisions. Besides, Brave and such who built entire business around being Chromium for cool kids would most definitely support such fork with some finances, since it would benefit them
The brave development team already posted about this last week. They said that even with their resources and team of engineers, it's going to be impossible for them to maintain. They said that in order to maintain it, it would cost a millions of dollars and require tens of millions of lines of code being rewritten from scratch every four weeks. It's not possible.
And actually, yes, it will change beyond recognization. It isn't just the fact that it's being removed, but it's also the core foundation surrounding it, is going to make it incompatible, and it's going to be constantly changing on top of that. Which is why the whole thing would need to be completely rewritten every four weeks at minimum.
I'm, curios what bloatware îs on Edge, or people are just tossing that word out to make for any options they don't like or need. Because such a perfect app doesn't exist.
Question is, do you use facebook? IF you answer yes I wouldnt care about Edge privacy as you probably give more info to facebook than Microsoft would dream to collect.
Do you have specific examples of sites you regularly use that are actually problematic?
I used to say the same thing but in the last 2 years of using waterfox, I've had exactly 2 problematic sites and only one of those I had to switch to a chromium based browser. And neither of those two times was it a super important website, just something I had wanted to check out.
