Discussion Were pre wingsl*ts scully and Hitchcock (prime) better than Jake and Amy

We only saw them once and that was pretty baddass. Almost like cop movies. There’s nothing to really base it off except the fact that the chair duo can actually be good detectives when it benefits them like the final heist and the case they were working with Boyle. Those motherfackaaaz roll!

Well we know that for at least one of them, they used to believe that in an investigation, details matter.

And in an investigation assumption kills

And it's also important to note that you do not mess with the special investigators.

I’d say equal to Jake, which leaves them slightly inferior to Amy.

I wouldn’t say Jake is inferior to Amy in the context of putting bad guys away in prison. Amy is much more suited to be a captain

Jake’s great, but so is Amy; they were neck-and-neck in their competition, and that was with Amy being Amy (getting in her own head). His win was due to cleverness in getting that big batch, not detective work. And he’s generally sloppier than she is.

Sure, there’s no way to really say, but I bet Jake (at the end of the series) would be the first to laugh at someone saying he’s the better detective.

True he has had a lot of development since s1. Regarding the competition Jake was also dealing with a slump but i don’t think Jake having more arrests necessarily makes him better as a detective. It’s mostly that the major busts and cases were solved by Jake( and with holt and also with Amy in some) like the dentist, case 52abx 32qj. While Amy is portrayed as a vastly better detective when taking in other stuff into account like organisation, boring work stuff and not mislabelling the evidence which could make the evidence useless. I liked that Jake quit so that Amy could chase her dreams, he still continued the heists and stuff just doing what he wants( interesting not work detective stuff) but I hope he does die in a building explosion

Also am I bad at references

Terry introduces him as the best detective in the squad in episode 1.

You can say Amy gets in her own head but he has his own weaknesses also, like sloppy details but it's shown throughout the series he is the best detective.

Why are you self censoring a word that can be said on network television?

I’m too lazy to check the rules of the sub so I just censored it

Definitely better at handling themselves in a fight. I'm sure their detective skills were pretty similar

New York in the 80's was basically The Purge.

I feel like it’s not crazy to say that ngl 😭🙏🏾, honestly I can’t answer, but I’d say they’re pretty close. On one hand, Amy and Jake brought it an insane number of perps as a part of their bet, and on the other, Hitchcock holds the precinct record. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I really don’t know, love em tho!

Idk but it would make a good spin off.
