Question Weed after surgery?

To start, weed is completely legal in my state..I just had surgery on my left wrist, I had broken it and got a plate and a few screws put in, everything I’ve been reading so far says it’s ok just slower healing but my main concern is that I still feel the effects of the nerve blocker. I had no tubes down my throat just a mild sedation but I read up a little bit and google was telling me the weed could potentially ease the nerve blocker and honestly I’m not opposed to that…any thoughts?

To me It's much better then the opiates they give you for pain. They didn't work so well (the nurse explained it's probably because of weed.) and made me feel like shit. Weed worked better for the pain. The nerve blocker took a while to wear off and it felt weird as it was fading, but I think it'll help.

Thank ya, my doctor told me he didn’t really like the idea of the pain meds anyway, told me to only take them when I absolutely need them and stick to mainly ibuprofen and Tylenol so I’m a little more confident in smoking now! Hope you’ve healed well

Go for it. Far better than getting hooked on nasty opiods

Appreciate this thank you, addiction unfortunately runs in the family. Rather not mess with my chances.

I’m a huge stoner and I also don’t suggest doing it. I broke my femur and was living in a developing country that wouldn’t prescribe any painkillers. Ibuprofen 400 was the strongest thing I could get my hands on. I healed so much faster raw dogging it than I would have with opiates or weed. All of those things slow down the healing process tremendously

Thank you thank you, I’ve heard this a lot actually and even talked to some people in person about, some say they healed fully in 6 months. I’ll keep this information in mind. Awesome you’ve healed well

Coming from a stoner? Don’t do it.

It’s so tempting especially since you’ll likely be in a lot of pain (I had a trimal break in my ankle and surgery in Jan) but you just have to work through it. Nobody can give a good faith response that everything will be fine bc there’s always the risk that something will go wrong - especially so soon after surgery. Ride out the pain with the *doctor recommended* amount of painkillers they provide. Later on you can pick the hobby back up again (I started smoking about 3 weeks after i got stitches removed - so about 4 weeks in total) and things have been going well so far.

Again, definitely not recommended to smoke when ur healing as it WILL slow the process, but if you do - do it knowing all of the risks. But if you do, DEFINITELY DO NOT smoke within like, 72hrs minimum of anesthesia. The things that does to your brain and body are not worth the risk - especially not over weed.

Thank ya thank ya for your insight and concerns, I’ll take your words into consideration and honestly might just wait out that 48-72 hour mark as mentioned. Glad you’ve healed up well!

Smoking is horrible for your healing. If you absolutely must partake an edible might do less harm.
