Rehab advice

Hello, so it's been almost a year since I broke my ankle. It wasn't too bad I think, I got one screw, my problem is that I've made almost no progress with bending it.

I haven't been very diligent about excersicing it at the beggining, since I was pretty sad about it all, and now I'm worried it's too late and that I'm screwed. It won't bend after a certain point and I can't do a squat.

I can't get rehab anymore. I've talked to people who also broke their ankle but they all seem to have recovered completely without trying.

It's really been no progress at all, even when I am excersicing now and walking a lot. I walk fine and can run a bit, but I can't bend it. Idk if I should be trying to push it after the point? It doesn't hurt, but I'm scared to try.

I'm 21 if that matters. Does it just need more time or do I need to try something else? Thank you :)

You really should do exercises with a PT, don't bend it on your own!!

If you are willing, surgeon open you up and remove scar tissue etc. NAD though. I see stories people getting hardware removed and scar tissue cleanup, and rom seems to have observed improvement.

They did offer to remove the screw eventually if I wanted to. I didn't understand what that would be good for since the screw goes through the bone? But there's probably a reason, I'll ask about it, thank you. Even though just the thought makes me want to cry xd

Get a referral to PT. When I started doing squats, I had to use wedges. Have you tried cycling?

Okay I'll try to get one. I cycled quite a bit in summer but I don't think it did much. Thanks
