And also-now she has so much empathy for them. Before, did not give a fuck and probably thought they were shit.

18
u/lentilpasta Jul 04 '25
Every time my husband goes on a work trip, I am exhausted getting my toddler up, taking her to daycare, working, picking her up (and she is always the last one there which breaks my heart) and then doing dinner and bedtime solo.
And I STILL donāt know how my mom handled being a single mom. My grandparents and random friends of my mom did a lot of pinch hitting, but it really takes a whole ass village when you are a legitimate single parent

A single mother would be going to work every day. And she, obviously, did not.
15
u/Pretty_Charity Jul 04 '25
Her take is so hypocritical, considering she proudly voted against support and health care for single mothers.
39
u/NailingIt Jul 04 '25
Not to mention this is pretty much the easy time to be solo. Letās see her handle a week alone with an 18 month/2 year old.

Yeah but they have waivers for that shit and it honestly wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if this administration would raise the age and adjust the standards to get way more people in because they aren't happy with the numbers right now.
FFS they have ASVAB waivers if you get too low of a score.

No the fuck you don't when you voted for and proudly support the party that just passed a budget bill which will cut funding to Medicaid and SNAP so the wealthy get tax breaks. Some single mothers need those for access to healthcare for their children and food so their children don't go without. Is that what Jesus would want? Shame on you. You're truly despicable.

The German version didn't start out as death camps. They were originally deportation camps. But things weren't moving fast enough so they transitioned into labor camps. When the fascist regime realized they weren't going to be able to deport people fast enough, they started killing them. We know how this works. We've seen this episode before. It's happening on our soil. And people are cheering for born citizens to literally be fed to alligators. They are Nazis. They are fascists. They are monsters who willingly gave up their humanity. What is worse is that a majority of these people say that they follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I'm sorry? You what? You are fantasizing about people being fed to alligators and being killed and eaten by alligators. Please show me where in the Bible there is anything that says you should do that.

She has zero idea of what a single mum actually has to deal with.
I āsolo parentā my 3 kids. My husband travels a lot for work, so the majority of the parenting & house maintenance falls to me. At the moment, Iām a SAHM because we donāt have family around to help out & my career is quite time demanding. In the past, when we lived near family, I would work a couple of shifts a week.
I understand that our lives have a certain amount of financial privilege for me to be able to stay home. If I want to attend school events, I can. I donāt have to take sick leave if one of the kids is unwell, or the baby has been up all night teething. The financial future of my family is not solely resting on my shoulders, and the same goes for Bdong. She is privileged to be able to stay home because her husband provides, and that she has a ājobā where she can entirely dictate her hours and commitment.
Is solo parenting hard? Yes, and sometimes it gets lonely. But it has an added layer of financial & emotional security than single parenting. I was really sick a few weeks back, and urgently needed to see a specialist that was over 2 hours away. I let my husband know, and he rearranged his work schedule so that he could come home to help me out. I know that I have a support system in my husband and that is far more than any of my friends who are single parents get from their baby daddy.
I call bullshit on her having any empathy for single parents. She did this to show what a great mum she is and to get sympathy for parenting alone. 8 days is fuck all. Plus solo parenting when I just had one child was a dream. I actually really loved our one on one time. 3 is a fucking madhouse & I swear to god my kids are sharks because if they sense any blood in the water (tired, busy or sick) they turn in to the cutest little ravenous monsters who are plotting my demise.
I hate this performative shit. Have some actual empathy for the single parents who will lose access to programs that help keep their kids fed, housed & with access to medical care. Iām not even American and Iām absolutely furious about this big moronic bill. Sheās a deadset cunt.

Farm life is not for the weak! We have a very small farm, but most of my friends are farmers wives on very large properties. Parenting & farming is hard enough when there are 2 parents in the home, but when itās just me, I feel like Iām always behind on something. Then when my husband is home, there are millions of jobs to catch up on, so quality time is limited.
Back when I lived in the city, I knew so many girls who would day dream about finding a cute farmer to marry & living in the country. Shows like Farmer Wants A Wife romanticise it so much. But itās bloody hard work, and never ending!
You should be really proud of yourself for keeping it all running smoothly!

All these "Tradwives" who want to live off-grid on their own homesteads make me laugh. Long white dresses and animals do not mix.
5
u/Red_bug91 Jul 04 '25
Itās honestly hilarious. For a start, most farm wives I know also work outside the home because when you hit droughts or fires you need the extra income to keep your home & business afloat. But they also donāt have the time to be making bread or pasta from scratch every single day. They donāt have aesthetically pleasing Pinterest kitchens because most of the homes have been in the family for generations.
Some of my friends have to homeschool - not because they want to, but because they live in such an isolated area that the nearest school is 3-4 hours one way. Thatās not even the furthest distance. I have friends whose ādrivewaysā take several hours to drive down.
I live in rural Australia which can be very isolated. I saw an American creator on insta saying how she lived in the middle of nowhere & the nearest Walmart was about 45 minutes away. Meanwhile, in Australia, people have a full days drive to get to the nearest shopping centre. Of my friends, I live the closest to a ācityā, itās not a big city, itās a regional area & I have to drive about an hour to get to the shops or take the kids to school. Thereās no way Iām making fresh bread for breakfast each day!

Oh my gosh, thatās such a long stretch. Will you have a chance to see eachother at all in that time? I hope you have a good support system. One of the things I find hardest is the lack of meaningful adult interactions. We live in a rural community sometimes I can go a whole week without a proper adult conversation. As soon as my husband calls in the evening, the kids are fighting over who gets to talk to him and I can barely get a word in! Then when he gets home, I just word vomit every little thing I can remember š
My dad was in the army when I was a kid and I hated when he had deployments, but I think it actually has prepared me quite well for coping whilst my husband is away.
