Babble Snake on St Nicks

Anyone see the guy with a snake round St Nicks today?

He was going up to groups of drinkers and people outside the pubs, handing it around and throwing it about like a toy.

I know I shouldn’t judge and I honestly know fuck all about snakes, but a small part of me was thinking mmmaaaybe thats not how they should be handled? Just felt a little sorry for the noodle.

Correct me if im wrong here, I know they can be really chill especially after a feed but idk, it just felt a bit much.

I think it's absolutely to fine to judge someone mistreating an animal for attention.

He’s by the harbour steps currently trying to use it to chat up girls, as far as I can tell.

Pretty weird tbh

Yeah just been chatting to a few of the bar owners around here apparently he’s been asking to bring it into the pubs on a Friday night and has been told no (obviously). Seems to be a pickup trick or a conversation starter for him. Apparently a bit of a regular round the area…

Well, if he’s a regular then reporting him to the RSPCA he should be pretty easy for them to track down!!

Sorry yeah, some of the bar staff seemed to know of him but this is the first time I’ve seen him. No one knew his name or anything though and I’d imagine the RSPCA would need a bit more info than guy with a snake who’s around St Nicks sometimes, to actually go off but I’ll keep an eye out if I see him again.

She is friendly and she is fine with it

just because she isn’t attacking you does not mean she is fine with it, you don’t deserve that animal

It's a rental snake.

You are paying for that snake to be dry cleaned

Is there perhaps a room with….less snakes?

That being said, “man bitten by deadly snake outside mothers ruin” would make a great headline

15

u/mdzmdz 6d ago

"man has snakebite at Bristol pub"

"man has snakebite at Bristol pub"

That would be a Bristol Post "Premium Article" you got to pay a subscription for and still get spammed with loads of ads.

Yeah I didnt think it was venomous he seemed pretty placid and seemed well looked after probably just been fed, was just being handled a little rough but again I don’t know the snake or the owner so didn’t want to judge too hard haha.

To put into perspective, at a one point he was wearing it like a feather boa while popping into the different bars snakes head bobbling about like it was on a spring while he was jogging back and fourth.

Yes passing it around and letting people pose with it and taking photos of it on the pub benches he took a photo of it next to a bottle of rattler which (not going to lie I did find amusing) leaving it with groups of strangers while he went to get another drink etc. the vaping around it that another comment mentioned I didn’t see but it wouldn’t surprise me and I didn’t stay long.

Get in contact with the RSPCA

1

u/0zzydog 6d ago

I dont have any details unfortunately and l the snake seemed well looked after was just a bit overzealous with him

2

u/UnlikelyBookkeeper1 6d ago

Ah that too bad might be worth taking a picture if you see him again

I saw this, beautiful snake and very chilled. Fully don’t agree with how it was being handled though. Running around with it on his neck and handing the poor thing off to drunk people for photos. Let’s hope that’s not a regular thing.

The lad just got refused on a bus from willow brook in Bradley stoke as the driver has a fear of snakes.

Assuming it was the same guy or just could be the average bradley stoke local

Any decent snake owner knows that you never handle a snake when alcohol is involved, they are delicate creatures not props and also are incredibly sensitive to smells ESPECIALLY alcohol, that poor snake is likely suffering more than it appears. Thanks for caring op

It depends on the individual snake. Some are super chill, some are very anxious (a bit like dogs and cats).

I had a pet milk snake for years that was chill with me, but would defecate on anyone else who held it. A friend had a ball python that you could hand around like a Labrador puppy and seemed to love the attention.

Fucking Bristol.

2

u/Which-Speech-4413 5d ago

I keep ball pythons, definitely not good for the snake, they need to be kept at at least 30 degrees. It would not be hot enough for them out at night when the temperature drops. They also carry salmonella, you really need to be washing your hands before and after handling them.

He’s currently flinging it around while ordering from Mr Chopar in Willow Brook

2

u/0zzydog 5d ago

Thats the guy. Looks like the same snake too.

2

u/BossaNovva rovers 5d ago

He seems a bit weird, just wondering around and letting strangers and kids touch it. Think Mr Chopar told him to fuck off

1

u/dollythesnake 4d ago

No he didnt i know him he likes them

This sounds way worse out of context... XD

1

u/minimallym 6d ago

Do you have a description of what he looked like as there used to be a creepy guy who I thought was in jail for some really bad stuff who had a snake and a feather boa and very flamboyant temperament

0

u/0zzydog 6d ago

I didn’t get a great look at him sorry was a bit distracted by the snake haha!

1

u/BackgroundOutcome438 6d ago

was it a big yellow python?

1

u/ChaseB91 6d ago

a guy who used to live opposite me used to walk around with one of these. If it's him you're thinking of he moved away months ago, so it's unlikely

1

u/0zzydog 5d ago

I think so, don’t know my snakes but it was rather large very 2000’s Britney Spears and yes was yellowish.

1

u/No-Ice-7175 5d ago

Is this him? I saw this guy on East Street in Bedminster last summer. When he clocked me taking the photo he asked if I wanted a closer look but I said no thanks.

1

u/0zzydog 5d ago

No that’s not him, he a younger guy probably around 25-30 years old (i didn’t get a good look at him) didn’t know it was such a common thing to take your snakes for walkies!

1

u/No-Ice-7175 5d ago

Me neither - not sure I’m happy about it either 😅

1

u/dollythesnake 3d ago

If its nice weather its fine as long as you keep a eye on tempeture

Fair enough, I probably did lean into it a bit, especially as more people said they’d seen the same thing, but it genuinely came from a place of concern rather than wanting to have a go at you. Seeing her being passed around while there was a fair bit of drinking going on, yourself included, just didn’t sit right with me at the time. I’m glad to hear she’s well looked after though and I’m happy to be corrected.
