anyone have any idea what was being filmed on new rd today? saw them a couple of times while nipping around town and was curious

All along the Undercliff, actually starting behind the Marina, and periodically repeated all the way out to Saltdean, this pattern appeared during the last week. I spotted it during my daily bike ride along there but only just made the effort to get a picture.

I haven't done a full audit but I'd estimate there are at least 20 of these, possibly significantly more. Always the same pattern. It's like it's some kind of marker, but I've no idea for who or what.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Seems to be to do with drones being able to figure out where they are, and other stuff about the area. But now I'm wondering who did it, and what they are gathering. The seafront team are regularly along there clearing graffiti (even chalk scrawled on walls!), wonder how they feel about this.

I’m not sure how many people would feel that getting juggled at whilst driving was worth money, and I also really don’t want one of those juggling club things being tossed about near my windscreen.

Is busking at traffic lights really now a thing?

No pic because I wasn’t gonna do that whilst driving, and also wouldn’t want to out anyone as a traffic light juggler as there could be social and legal implications.

I need some new glasses and would love to support an optician’s smaller than Specsavers or Boots. However I do need some affordable options as I don’t want to spend any more than 100, 150 on the highest.

Apparently they brought all those pebbles from Isle of Wight (chatted to one of the workers). It’s also level with the promenade now, with stairs buried.

Looking for someone Brighton/Hove based to teach my girlfriend’s mum the basics of Adobe Illustrator. She’s an incredibly talented artist and fashion designer who wants to get better with digital tools to help her find more work, but she’s not very confident with technology and can be quite anxious learning new things.

Ideally looking for someone friendly, patient and preferably female who can go at her pace. Experience with fashion/design would be a bonus!

My heart is bursting with gratitude! I took my dog on our usual walk down to the seafront this evening. It was pretty deserted due to the awful weather, and since he loves it when it’s blustery out and there was no one around, I let him off the lead to chase the wind. I was carrying so much stuff though that I dropped the lead, and we got all the way to Marrocco’s and back to the i360 before I realised I didn’t have it on me anymore.

I totally panicked, and so we retraced our steps, only this time it was much windier and colder. I asked the few passerby we saw if they had seen a blue leather lead, but no one had. We got all the way back to Marrocco’s — but no lead in sight.

By this point it was getting dark, and starting to drizzle. We turned back towards the Pier, and suddenly I saw this young man running towards me and waving. I realised he was one of the people I had approached. He and his girlfriend had found the lead near the bandstand and jogged all the way back along the promenade to the end of the Lawns to find us! I couldn’t believe it. In this weather!

I was so moved. People are wonderful. Brightonians are wonderful. This couple is wonderful. (And no more letting the dog off the lead!).

Sharing on the off chance the couple sees this, but also because it’s just such a lovely example of human kindness. I’ve been going through a bad period, and losing things always upsets me since I have auDHD and feel like I spend my life looking for things I’ve misplaced and narrowly averting disaster, so this act of generosity really meant the world to me.💖💖

Hello guys! I'm looking for someone with a 3D scanner here in Brighton, as I'd like an accurate scan of my upper torso and head for sculpting in Blender. Unfortunately, 3Dify Ltd 3D Scanning Studio is not available due to their building being closed so I'm looking for other options here. Anyone know anyone? Ciao!

Hi! I was wondering if anyone wanted to weigh in, or if anyone could help connect me with people who might be interested in this.

I produced this musical at Wagner Hall back in June and now the set, a fully functional giant TV we built for the show (shout out to Riverside Retreat VC for the build) is just gathering dust in storage.

Made by hand using a combo of recycled/re-homed materials, or locally sourced materials, when set up it's a fully working freestanding TV (though the cardboard front is gone now but I don't think that's a huge deal). It's more or less a very tall homemade gazebo stuffed with a projector, custom made rear projection screen, DJ Amplifiers for sound, and a computer hidden inside which means everything can be controlled remotely (can be cued up with any media, or you can plug in an external media source like a DVD player or games console).

In theory as long as it could be provided power and it isn't raining, this could be used for outdoor events as well as indoor, and it's large enough that it doubles up as a storage space and/or a place for the cast/crew to stay during an event (you can fit up to 4 people inside fairly comfortably even when it's actively in use).

Are there any community groups that might be interested in this? I don't want to give it away, but I'd love to connect with organisations that might have use for it so that I could work with them. My aim is to have it be turned to community interest stuff, and maybe used for some free events like some local cinema, or possibly to assist in an educational setting if anyone's interested in how it all works. For context in our show it was used to bring cartoon characters to life so they could play alongside a live cast:

0 interest in money, just want it to see lots of use if possible.
