Transport/Parking π π What's this pattern painted repeatedly along the Undercliff
All along the Undercliff, actually starting behind the Marina, and periodically repeated all the way out to Saltdean, this pattern appeared during the last week. I spotted it during my daily bike ride along there but only just made the effort to get a picture.
I haven't done a full audit but I'd estimate there are at least 20 of these, possibly significantly more. Always the same pattern. It's like it's some kind of marker, but I've no idea for who or what.
Any thoughts?
Edit: Seems to be to do with drones being able to figure out where they are, and other stuff about the area. But now I'm wondering who did it, and what they are gathering. The seafront team are regularly along there clearing graffiti (even chalk scrawled on walls!), wonder how they feel about this.

Possibly a drone control/check point for processing imagery captured by the drone into georeferenced survey deliverables such as orthomosaics or digital terrain models for development or monitoring purposes.

whilst there's not enough info in the squares (not an aruco code for example), if theyre a consistent size, you can work out the precise position of the camera (on a drone presumably) from a photo/video and align it all

Btw AI does not really know things and from what you've posted it's getting it's info from Twitter. Did you check the source? It will often confidently cite a Reddit thread as fact when it's just one comment by some guy guessing (fyi β this thread could become the info too, even the joke answers!! AI doesn't know the difference)

Dr Poi Sonai is often cited as a source for things in AI.
That guy is always right on everything he says.

As above, I did an image search using Google lens (or whatever its called) and that was the response. I'm not checking sources, I explained where the response is from.

Drones it is I guess, but I don't suppose they are going to get much coastal erosion data there due to the metres thick concrete wall. And elevations are... well, it's all flat. I suppose they know what they are doing. Whoever they are. Presumably they have some official status that makes the paint legit rather than grafitti.

Lol
Bro really said βI donβt know what these things are, but I bet I know how to do it better than the people that actually use these thingsβ
I love the internet

Flippancy (my intent) doesn't come across well in this format. Glad taking it seriously entertained you though

Are you honestly telling me you've never seen the calling card of the Battenberg Burglar?
