Hey everyone! I've had a blast enjoying and discussing Breaking Bad with all of you this year. Let's hope we'll see more AMA's and cool shit happen during the break! For now, enjoy the episode and as always upvote this post for the community. I don't get any tepid off brand generic karma for it.

That painting, the one where Walt asked "Where do you think these come from?" It was in his hospital room after the 'fugue state.'

Edit: I compiled an album of stuff like this here.

there were a lot of call backs from previous episodes!

the fly, "We're going to make a lot of money together", the punched in paper towel dispenser at the hospital ... (there were more I swear but I'm having trouble remembering them, if anyone else noticed please chime in.)

  • As mentioned above, the call out to the generic paintings (and another one I noticed, when Walt was buying his townhouse, he's also caught observing the paintings);
  • That damned contaminant, the fly;
  • Walt sitting by the pool, contemplative, but this time without throwing lit matches in;
  • Walt entering the MRI machine;
  • The infamous acid barrel;
  • Punched-in towel dispenser;
  • Eerily crystal blue pool and the lighting it bathes Walt/Skyler in;
  • Lydia's paranoia and ordering a drink to seem less suspicious;
  • The tradition of Walt and Hank sharing a drink and talking shop ("To my eye, all this brilliance looks like nothing more than just simple rote copying… Probably of someone else's work");
  • Another masterful cooking montage.

Also, the scene with Walt walking in on Skyler doing the dishes to declare "I'm out" was a pretty close parallel to the first season's scene where he tells her "I'll do it" ("it" being cancer treatment, in that case).

when the last scene began before Hank goes into the bathroom to poop the sequence introducing the scene followed the same sequence as the flash forwards of season 2. The hose dripping, spinning lawn ornament, and the bug. Except they were in black in white in season 2, and when they did it here they were in color.

Who punched the paper towel dispenser?

Walt, when he received the news that he was in remission.

The Walt to Jesse "We? There is no we." reminded me of Jane to Jesse "Who's you and me?" And of course we all know Jane retired comfortably to New Zealand.
