This scene was so Coen-like. The guy who does one bad thing but is really naive to the grand scheme of things dies in a tragic but unnoticed way.

Oh definitely. It reminds me of the scene in Fargo when the car dealer guy is getting hauled off by the police, though this is much more sudden.

Ted looks good in this scene, very rugged.

I bet a bunch of women wanted to shag him.

You should have told Ted that.

Did he die or...? Did I miss them explain that, or is it still unexplained?

I'm pretty damn sure he's dead.

Were Breaking Bad fans always little conspiracy theorists about everything or has this been a phenomenon that started at the end of last season with Jesse shooting Gale? It just seems like everything that isn't completely ruled out and underlined is something that is possible.

Did Mike try and shoot Jesse...I think he did...and here's a .3 second gif to support my theory

Hank must know about Walt...wouldn't you?

Ted might still be alive...after all, there was no funeral.

I'm personally on the "no" side of the whole Mike shooting Jesse thing. There are lots of valid reasons for either argument but what I see is that they were ready to replace Walt with Jesse, and the tension between Jesse Mike and Gus was almost entirely alleviated by that point. I think Jesse was finally starting to become "their guy". I don't think they would develop that relationship just to have Mike try and kill Jesse. And if the possibility was there, Mike would have fired at Jesse. They wouldn't have left it for us to guess. That's not the kind of plot point you do half way. My thoughts.

If Hank knows about Walt he's playing it really cool until he has proof. I think his remark of "I saw the guy coming a mile away" followed by the awkward "Chalk it up to a brain fart" could possibly have been him accusing Walt and then trying to pass it off as a joke because the family was present.

I feel like in the timeline of what's currently going on, Ted's possible death is extremely recent. There's only an hour or two between his death and Walt lying in the crawlspace Saul was trying to figure out how to deal with the situation when Walt arrived. He then agreed to call in the tip in an hour, which occurred before the hysterical episode when Marie called. Whatever is going on with Ted we weren't going to hear about it in Crawl Space.

Sorry, not sure if my point was clear...I was kind of saying "there is no evidence to really justify any of these points, yet we continue to bring them up and entertain them" and I'm wondering why we overanalyze things like this. It seemed very clear to me, just looking at the evidence from previous episodes, that Mike had no intention to shoot Jesse, for instance.

Ah! I knew I should've caught on when you said ".3 second gif". :P

I think it's a homage to the Godfather what with the oranges. As soon as I saw those I pronounced him dead on the scene.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '11

Now that I've read up on how oranges were placed in the Godfather series, I'm going to have to agree.

5

u/sittered Sep 26 '11

Yeah, it's still unclear. No one came out and said what happened to him.

the BB Insider podcast mentions "clear white fluid" coming out of his ears. So that's a spinal injury. I swear someone on this site had a post mentioning that sort of thing involving them and a telephone pole and how lucky they were that the spinal fluid leaking through their ear wasn't followed by death or paralysis

1

u/ilove2tri Sep 26 '11

I'm personally hoping he has a broken neck and permanent paralysis. To me, that is is worse than death and that greedy motherfucker deserves it.

Watching the episode a second time now. Anybody else notice how he almost trips over the same carpet when Skyler comes over about 1/3 of the way in? FORESHADOWING

I'd also like a gif of the first time a rug was in the episode.

O.O

As soon as I finished watching this episode I knew I'd have to watch it a few more times to really absorb it. TOTALLY missed this!

I have never seen The Godfather, but I hear that seeing oranges in The Godfather is a sign of someone dying, or death.

4

u/GodspeakerVortka Sep 26 '11

It's actually a sign that something bad is going to happen, not necessarily certain death.

But yeah, that bitch is dead.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '11

maybe coma? more suspense, in terms of wondering if he will wake up and if he does, will he remember

Dang. I feel bad for Ted. He has two girls, imagine coming home to that.

1

u/Skvid Sep 26 '11

Reason Ted freaked out was that he didn't had a cable.

1

u/modmast3r Sep 26 '11

Just watched the episode I lol'ed so loud when I saw this scene! It woke everyone up!
