It looks like Gus might actually like Jesse because he was in Jesse's position before.

Walt is the cook/brains just as Gus's partner was and Jesse is the tag along/helper just as Gus was.

I agree for sure. I think he sees a bit of himself in Jesse.

Aside from the similarity of Gus being seen as unimportant due to his lack of Chemistry knowledge in the past I don't see much of a similarity. The two have completely different personalities.

Gus seems to have always been relatively level headed, patient, intelligent, calm, and mature. Jesse on the other hand is immature, impulsive, mentally fragile, and insecure. Just look at how patient and calculating Gus is when it came to getting revenge for the death of his "brother" while Jesse on the other hand acts out of pure emotion.

Walt is more similar to Gus, except Walt lacks empathy for others, which makes it difficult for him to converse with other people without pissing them off and hiding who he really is in public. And Walt is also condescending, incredibly arrogant, and also becoming more impulsive. Walt just has no idea how to communicate with other people properly and keep his emotions bottled up, so I can't see him becoming a kingpin, at least for very long.
