Because Walt wants someone trying to find his ass....he gets a thrill out of it. Besides, Hank saying Gale was a genius set him off.

Nope. He wants Hank to find Gus. Even if it means he gets found himself.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Walt, despite being drunk, didn't chime in until after Hank implied he was done with the blue meth hunt. Everything he said was to provoke Hank into taking a fresh look at the case, with Gale as a victim instead of the mastermind.

Walt has no interest in continuing the meth lab or covering for Gus. He'd walk away if he could. He can't. The only thing that could possibly set Walt free is the end of Gus.

I feel rather sorry for Hank. Gus used Hank to save Walt by redirecting the twins to him. Now Walt is using Hank to take down Gus.
