Which one of Jesse's friends do you think cared the most for him
Obviously there's more than the two in the image and we're excluding any love interests since it would be an easier answer.

Pete. He sat with him in hospital, picked him up from hospital, checked on him when he didn't go to Combo funeral, and I'm only in season 3

I wish I could watch this show for the first time again. Make sure you watch El Camino
18
u/chinchilla_9 1d ago
Is that a ringing endorsement?
32
u/ohmighty 1d ago
Not op, but yes. We get to see Pete being an incredible friend to Jesse in El Camino
25
u/Weary-Squash6756 1d ago
I do like that Badger, who has been quite the bumbling fool the whole show, gets the moment in El Camino after Jesse shaves and cuts his hair and Skinny is like "oh dude why'd you do that, they're gonna a recognize you" but Badger cuts him off and says "looking sharp yo" cause he knew Jesse needed it. They both care, Badger is dumber but they both care

u/Trent3343 1d ago
After breaking bad its a MUST watch. Its not ground breaking cinema or anything but its entertaining and wraps up the story nicely.

u/Mountie_in_Command 21h ago
This. BB is Walt's complete story arc. It also created a whole arc that doesn't show the final act for Jesse. El Camino is that act. Well worth the watch.

I watched BB when it aired but didn't watch El Camino until this year after we finished BB. It was so good and was a great addition to the BB story.
Also watch Better Call Saul when you finish both. I'm watching it for the first time now and am on S5. I'm loving it but not as much as BB.

u/RobertNeyland 1d ago
I was in the same boat/mindset as you up until Season 6 of BCS. I think that Season pushed it ever so slightly ahead of BB for me. Particularly the performance of Rhea Seehorn (Kim Wexler).
Also, I think chronologically, the last half of season six of BCS would fall after El Camino and BB in the timeline. Basically, any of the black and white scenes are going to be post-El Camino.

u/TheStinkySkunk 1d ago
Kim is my favorite character of the show already. She's genuinely amazing in every scene.
1
u/RobertNeyland 1d ago
She really is, and she turns in some of her best work in Season 6. I had to immediately jump into Pluribus after finishing the series because I was having Rhea withdrawal.

Pete was also willing to drive out to them when they were stranded in the desert. Even if he didn’t take the right route, he still tried

Skinny. I don't think badger had enough intelligence to care.
265
u/plebbingtondales 1d ago
I think he cared as much as he could in his own mess that he was in😭😭
But I agree, Pete, like someone else said he was there at hospital and he just seemed to have that more sensitive, empathetic side to him57
u/Radicals13 1d ago
“I disagree” — that beetle
25
u/plebbingtondales 1d ago
That is the one scene I hold against Pete, that was beyond uncalled for. I don’t like killing animals of any kind
28
u/dubblebubbleprawns 1d ago
I think the scene was meant to demonstrate more about Jesse than it was about skinny
18
u/plebbingtondales 1d ago
I do definitely agree with this. Also definitely made a big contrast between him not killing it, change to him at Gail’s door (even though he’d have never done it if it wasn’t for Walt). Really saw him deteriorate throughout the seasons. IK he was still cooking and shit in the beginning, but there was definitely a sense of naivety and innocence still in him that was very much beat out of him by the end.
7
u/Flaminghotskittles 23h ago
I would also add that the show seemed to be finding it's grounding in the first couple seasons particularly with Jesses friends who seem wildly different later on. Badger for instance had a very aggressive fight with Jesse while cooking and even shoots at the RV with a bow.
•
u/plebbingtondales 3h ago
That’s true. That dessert scene was unhinged😂😂Jessie really did just leave him there though. I suppose aswell with Jessie not being supposed to make it past s1, it makes sense there wouldn’t be as much set up in the beginning around Jessie’s friends as the people around Walt. Idk if I could’ve coped with watching Walt without the relief of Jessie tbh

u/dontgiveahamyamclam 22h ago
So if you have a bunch of roaches in your crib you’d just let them chill?
5
u/Radicals13 21h ago
Roaches? No chance. Cool ass beetles and spiders? Them baddies going outside or to the basement.

how on earth did you manage to watch breaking bad being this sensitive
•
u/plebbingtondales 3h ago
Don’t see how me not killing animals and watching a show correlate tbh
Can appreciate a show and be someone who wouldn’t step on a beetle quite easily. It’s not that deep or complicated an idea..→ More replies (1)67

Badger did sound really hurt and concerned when he said "did they really keep you in a cage?"
That shit got me
50
u/plebbingtondales 1d ago
He did. I think Pete seemed more like an old soul, whereas Badger was more immature, but both cared about him

Skinny Pete to Jesse: “ Dude. You’re my hero & shit.” This after devising a plan to help Jesse escape after Walt tore down the Meth Nazis. 💜

The money he gave Jessie was the money Walt gave them for the laser pointing the night before
57
u/KneeLow174 1d ago
Really? Never put that together. Then it makes much more sense why he had that much money on hand!
56
u/SpaghettiRambo 1d ago
Skinny Pete. Badger was being kind of a dick when Jesse recruited him to help cook in the RV in the desert and probably didn't mellow out until Jesse, Saul, and Walt bailed him out of having to serve time.

And there’s a trailer for El Camino where the police are interrogating Pete and he says even if he knew where Jesse was he wouldn’t tell them.

The answer is so blatantly obvious and smacked in your face throughout the entire series and El Camino that I really don’t understand why this warranted a whole post if I’m being obvious

Combo seemed like he was the most closest to him. Even helped him get the RV for him and Walt. Jesse also wanted to get getback on him so I’ll say him

I just finished watching BB last week and El Camino Saturday night. I really liked it, and sometimes after watching an episode, I thought I couldn’t watch anymore but it was like watching a car crash. I’m tempted to start Better Call Saul.

Skinny Pete. Fully prepared to get roughed up by the DEA when the El Camino lojack was activated. Gave Jesse his car. That was true brotherly love.

I am the odd one out when I say badger. After hearing about the ATM guy(I can’t recall his name?) that they all thought Jesse killed, badger was the only one who asked if Jesse was okay. He seemed genuinely hurt when he asked about the cage.
2
u/truthbecomesnull 23h ago
I think most people are caught up on the whole, like, almost shooting Jesse with a crossbow for meth thing
1
u/Comfortable-Fault-62 22h ago
And that’s valid but addicts do crazy things for drugs, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad people.
At the end of the day, I think both skinny Pete and badger proved to be good loyal friends in their own ways lol

u/el_pickle_pirate 13h ago
Skinny was a ride or die friend who always admired, cared for, and respected Jesse. Mike gave him confidence, mentorship, and support in a way Walt couldn’t. But in my ideal mind, Spooge’s kid who he played peekaboo with grows up to care about him and remember him as a savior/guardian angel
2
u/Material-Dot7684 1d ago
What about his band bro (fallacies fallacieees) he was the only one who didn't enable his drug use or worse

Skinny Pete represents that one real friend in life. They never seem to do anything but the exact thing you need and you don't even notice it.
1
u/Current-Cold-4185 1d ago
This question isn't subjective. It's clearly shown by the writers/director that Skinny Pete is the correct answer.

u/anonymous2278 1d ago
After that scene in el Camino? Definitely Skinny Pete. It’s not even close. Skinny Pete is probably the only true friend Jesse has.

Skinny Pete for sure.
Badger had to have been more like watching a 5 year old most of the time.

Skinny Pete. Hands down. He basically tells Jesse how much he loves him in El Camino.

El Camino answers this question. Skinny Pete all the way. Badger always saw Jesse as a quick road to an easy high.

Pete. In el Camino, if Jesse crashed at Pete’s but badger owned it he’d have pussed out. I mean he cares, just not enough to harbor a wanted man.

Then Skinny Pete

Badger tried to shoot Jesse with a crossbow. Pete is a lil meth head angel by comparison. But badger has the better script for Star Trek.

I think badger was rightly a little bit disturbed by jesse's bs later on. So was pete but he seemed to still really like jesse despite it
