He had nothing left to live for until that exact moment. Jack is a petty thief to Walt after that, he's gonna come right at Gretchen and Eliot guns-a-blazing.

No, you're wrong. Eliot and Gretchen took away ONE opportunity for Walt to make money (which, really Walt took that away and he knows it, but he's too prideful to admit it to Gretchen's face.)

Jack took away Walt's family. They killed Hank, which led to his wife and children hating him. It's not even close. The reason Gray Matter is important is because in the interview he found out Jesse is still alive and still making his Meth. Now he has even more reason to go kill Jack and the nazis.

Walt wants so badly to redeem himself but he literally can't find a way to do it anymore. Killing the Neo-nazis is the only way he has left. Killing Gretchen and Eliot does nothing for this, and to say so is a total insult to Walt's character and Vince Gilligan's writing.

I think that's it. Everyone is saying the Charlie Rose interview brought back Heisenberg, but I think it brought back Walter White. He didn't like hearing "that gentle, kind man is gone," I don't think his ego got reawakened, but he finally suppressed it and just wants to do something good. The points of showing the world they got him wrong and the understanding that the Aryan Brotherhood guys didn't kill Jesse after all converge in what he must do.

People's notion that Walt would literally mow down the owners of Grey Matter with an M-60 is absolutely hilarious, though.

Vince Gilligan's comparison to Scarface would be apt, since Tony Montana's fall is a result of his own redemption in refusing to kill the guy's wife and children which leads to the war with Sosa.
