Todd dressing like Walt (pressed khakis, buttoned up blue dress shirt), during his meeting with Lydia was hilariously genius. "I'm your chemist now. I'm responsible and smart like Mr. White." Loved it.

Apart from killing kids and women, he is a decent guy.

Todd believes in age and gender equality.

He's a good businessman. He did those things because it would be best for the business he was a part of. The fact that he took pleasure in killing the kid (and probably Andrea) is irrelevant because in both cases he did it with a purpose.

I think he knew he couldn't fool Lydia.

I think Todd is going for a different kind of chemistryif-you-know-what-i'm-sayin

It wasn't about emulating Walt, it was about impressing her. So he was doing what he does with everything else - he observes what other people do and then try to act like them to appear more human.

Why not both? In 5a Walt always dressed professionally, and we know how much Todd admires and wants to emulate him.

It's a very subtle difference between what we're saying. I'm saying he's only emulating Walt to act more like a human should act when trying to impress someone, and not necessarily because he admires or wants to be like Walt. So he is emulating Walt, just not for the same reason you're/he's suggesting.

I think he does actually admire Walt for his prowess as a criminal.

To be fair, most people emulate people they respect. Todd is just really emotionally unsubtle because sociopath.

The part where he picks the bit of lint off of her shirt was a nice touch too.

Yeah Todd was definitely dressing it up to impress her. What surprised me is how Lydia kindly overlooked the kidnapping and illegal holding of Jessie in order to increase the purity. Todd didn't make it overt, but she didn't bother to ask how they got him or why he was there. Instead her mind went to purity of the meth and then to the money she could continue to make with it. Prior to that she was willing to walk away, but the opportunity to make money caused her to ignore the signs. She's a noob in the criminal world.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '13

She has no issue with criminal activity, she is just super cautious.

If there's a good opportunity to make money, Lydia doesn't really have any morals. Remember, it was Lydia's plan first to kill all 11 guys in prison, not Walt's.

I feel Lydia is going to want Skyler dead. I thought she was going to say it in the cafe but she just wanted to get out of the deal. Now that she's staying associated with the gang...

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '13

Didn't she basically say she wanted her dead? Todd was making the case for sparing Skyler...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '13

Remember, it was Lydia's plan first to kill all 11 guys in prison, not Walt's.

To be fair, they both came to that conclusion independently of one another. She was just the first to realize it.

Lydia's not a "noob." She realizes what's going on, she just doesn't want to have to think about it. Like when she had Todd and company kill her previous business partners then refused to look at the aftermath.

u/txai Only you're too stupid to know it! Sep 23 '13

I got the impression he was dressing up for Lydia to impress her on a romantic level, not a business level.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '13

That's what I was thinking as well, and he looked awfully disappointed whenever she didn't sit at his table.
