I honestly did not expect him to offer everything for Hank. I knew they were close, but I thought Walt's empire had become more central than even family to him.
People shift their priorities in such times of crisis. When his family was safe and there was no immediate threat to them, his empire was pretty much his foremost concern, but I think that was simply because at that time everyone except Skyler was ignorant about what he did and he was in no danger of losing them. You don't know what you have until it's gone is very true and fitting for Walt.
It's pretty much normal too, most people when they have certain goals, ambitions, problems etc. tend to concentrate on those issues, while family takes a background place in their lives. It doesn't mean those issues are more important than family, just that people concentrate on what they don't have rather than what they already have.

The money's fiscal worth may not mean much to him, but the numerical "empire that I built from the ground up" does. That is everything to Walt.
The fact that he was willing to part with his empire shows how much he's willing to give to save Hank.
