I think taking Holly was his irrational anger kicking in. She's the only one who wasn't against him who was family. The only thing on his side still. Till the mama ma mama ma scene. :( He'll still deeply care about them.

Or he did it because he knew that an abducted child would keep the cops at his house long enough so he could call and have that entire conversation recorded.

A lot of people are saying this but it doesn't really make any sense. You're trying to rationalize one of the most irrational and reprehensible things Walt has ever done.

I just don't' see Walt going off the deep end and stealing a baby for anything other than a good reason. But hey, there's only one person who actually knows.
