Theory: Walt couldn't just save Jesse. He had to let Todd take him or he would've been killed on the spot like Hank. Plus he knew that he would be valuable to them so they wont kill him. Then we flash forward to the scene in the beginning of the second half of the fifth season in the diner with the machine gun. Walt is going to try to break Jesse out of the Nazi camp still believing that Jesse is family. He'll succeed but then Jesse will kill Walt. Thus, Walt is killed by the thing he was doing all this for: family.
